I got my daughter the grilled nuggets and fries, and she got sick. Tried again, this time told them to have the person handling her food change gloves... it was a rookie mistake I forgot to ask the first time. Success!

ARCHIVED First Follow Up Appointment
formygirl posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter was diagnosed in January, and she has her first follow up appointment today. Her bloodwork all looks really good. I want to make sure I ask anything/everything I should... any suggestions? Right now I have questions about some of the bloodwork, the vitamins I give her, and whether I should give her culturelle, if her weight is good... ... -

formygirl replied to Christine0125's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We love to shop at Costco... it makes my gluten-free 3 yr old very happy that they always, always have gluten-free samples. Seriously... for every gluten sample they have, there is another nearby booth with a gluten-free sample! -

ARCHIVED Question About Test Results
formygirl replied to formygirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, it was the pediatric gastro who said this. She had no qualms about doing an endo and diagnosing my daughter, so I don't think she would necessarily be hesitant with me, but who knows. I don't really know where to go with this. Since she is not really my doctor, and i'm not under a doctor's care right now, I don't know how to follow up. I think I... -
ARCHIVED Question About Test Results
formygirl replied to formygirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, this was from my daughter's Gastro doc. I planned on asking my doctor about the results. I am asymptomatic... but I know that doesn't mean I'm negative for Celiac. This is the quote on the test: The Gliadin IgG is generally over sensitive. We get it when screening because often patients with celiac disease have a low serum IgA and all of the... -
ARCHIVED Question About Test Results
formygirl replied to formygirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
These were my results... I was tested after my three year old was diagnosed. She said the IGg is generally over sensitive and since the total IGa was low (and all other results), we could "ignore" the elevated number. Hmmm... -
ARCHIVED Question About Test Results
formygirl posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have a doctor's interpretation of these results, but I'm curious about what others with experience would say about these: gliadin (deaminated) abs gliadin, iga 9 standard range <20 gliadin, igg 48 standard range <20 IGA 157 standard range 78-391 Transglutiminase Ab, IgA 17 standard... -

ARCHIVED Follow Up Bloodwork
formygirl posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My daughter should go this month for her 3 month follow up bloodwork. She was diagnosed at the end of January. I've seen a marked improvement in her gastro symptoms, and she has even gained weight. I am hoping to see a drastic improvement in her bloodwork as well, but I don't know how long that kind of thing takes. I don't want to get disheartened if... -
ARCHIVED Failure To Thrive
formygirl replied to Chefwife8's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My DD wasn't FTT, but she was tiny, and that combined with chronic diarrhea is what led to her being tested. At the GI, she basically just reviewed the results and recommended endoscopy to confirm. She also recommended seeing a dietician, which we did, but it was a waste of time and money, as she basically said we could google stuff. thanks lady. anyway... -
ARCHIVED Crispy Breading Substitute?
formygirl replied to TracyFL's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have tried the ian panko and gluten-free bisquick on chicken -- both were good, but since I have to omit egg, neither was particularly crispy -
ARCHIVED When A Pancake Is A Paincake
formygirl replied to RiceGuy's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
i'm new to all of this, but my daughter can't have eggs either, so i do the gluten-free bisquick with a banana instead of the egg, and i use coconut oil to sub the veg oil. they turn out great... even better w/ chocolate chips -

formygirl replied to Ryansmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We still have gluten stuffs in our house, but they are really only for my other dd's lunches. The dinners I make have been gluten free, which hasn't been that big of an adjustment, really. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Onion Soup Mix, I Think
formygirl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is Giant Eagle brand, and although it doesn't say "gluten free" i think the ingredients point that way... am i missing something? onions, salt, maltodextrin, cornstarch, hydrolyzed soya protein, onion powder, monosodium glutamate, caramel color, autolyzed yeast, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, disodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate contains... -
ARCHIVED Soaps And Such
formygirl replied to formygirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the reply. We're about one month into this, and I"m still navigating the gluten-free world slowly. I've seen people mention Dove, and we happen to have a huge container of Dove conditioner that my husband bought by accident thinking it was lotion so I went out and bought the shampoo to go with it. Right now she uses Cetaphil Gentle... -
ARCHIVED Soaps And Such
formygirl posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a three year old who was recently diagnosed... which shampoos/lotions/soaps/detergents do you recommend. I'm trying to be cost conscious; it would help if I could get brands offered at Target or regular grocery stores. Any advice? -
ARCHIVED Daughter's Endoscopy This Morning
formygirl replied to formygirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've been avoiding all egg product with her for the past two years. I have never tried the egg replacer, but I bought some ener-g to try. Egg has been amazingly easy to avoid. I also ordered a bunch of books/cookbooks/gluten-free labels from amazon the other day, so I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. The nice thing is that I try to eat pretty low...
