  1. Oh, and a fever. Allergy skin testing was negative and allergist said he was confident in the result.
  2. My daughter is in a minority with mostly skin issues. She has 3 kinds of rash, the distended "wheat" belly, hasn't been on the growth charts since 9months and almost had a FTT dx at 12 months, she coughs and vomits, has mood swings, possible joint pain (totally random complaints but may just be toddler accident prone), possible anemia, urinary frequency...
  3. They look like they do, but she either scratches them open almost right away, or won't let us get close enough to know for sure.
  4. Oooooh, now that you say that, it seems obvious. But it didn't really occur to me. I will have to let them know!
  5. Well, they use the wipes. Why is sanitizer inadequate?
  6. Argh! Someone had Cheerios in the 2yo room at the church nursery and my daughter stole some. She managed to get 4-5 Cheerios...nothing major, but her skin is already bright red in some places. That was about an hour and a half ago. I'm not mad at them, they were very upset that it happened. I'm just agitated that it happened at all. Nobody's fault...
  7. Thank you everyone! I will see about the iodine as well. At closer look, I think they are eczema spots- but either way more than likely a gluten reaction. She was accidently glutoned again at church today, and her skin already looks bad.
  8. Yes, she is, sorry I forgot to specify that! 12 weeks....that would be torture! I'm trying to get something based on her sx's, but I want to be well armed going into the appointment so I can advocate if I have to. Or know when to look for a diff. doc. I have high hopes for this GI, but we'll see.
  9. I should also say, we are in the process of a dermatologist referral. But we haven't gotten a call to schedule the appointment yet.
  10. They told me that it had to be biopsied when she FIRST got it, like, within the first day or two. Except for what I think is DH popped up, the worst of it has healed. And I thought she had to be on gluten, even for a DH dx? Could that one exposure get a positive dx?
  11. Um, I'll have to look again. She wouldn't let me look real close for real long. It is on both of her knees, but I did only see it on one arm. It doesn't LOOK like her eczema, but we'll see if it is blistery in the morning.
  12. Obviously 2 slices a bread is out of the question...which is what I could come up with as far as how much someone needs for a gluten challenge. I intend to ask the GI on Tuesday, but wanted to ask here as well. How much do you need to eat daily for a gluten challenge, and for how long? DD's sx's seem to correspond in intensity with the level of exposure...
  13. It has been approx. 3 weeks since DD's last glutoning. I just noticed 4 new spots of DH on her (backs of each knee, insides of each elbow) yesterday and today. She has never had sx's pop up anew this long after a glutoning before. We have been extremely careful, and everyone around us is on hyper alert right now because I'm basically educating my play...
  14. Well, this picture is a little hard to tell because it is so "angry" red. But, the eczema is scaly, not as bright red, and looks more like a bad case of dry skin. She has it a lot more often and it is spread in specific places that she always gets it. Back, legs, elbows, in the diaper area if it is really bad. We use hydracortisone cream on it and it...
  15. Yes, we are unable to do a gluten challenge- bad, bad reaction, the above picture was only a portion of it. That was 20 minutes after 2 slices of bread. That was almost 3 weeks ago now and it has largely cleared up. I just don't want to make her go through another doctor and a skin plug if I don't have to If someone on here looked at it and said "absolutely...
  16. Honestly, it is hard to tell. Benadryl makes her sleep, so there is that... We use the steroid (which we are stopping) for the eczema, and I think that helps the itch on both rashes.
  17. Oh I know. It has been crazy. M does know not to EAT E's cheerios (my in laws provided us with about 8 boxes.....) but she picks up the snack trap he has them in..... We don't let anyone carry around foods containing gluten, and we do our best to contain it. I know it isn't ideal, but we are getting better at it. I have a separate area of the kitchen...
  18. Oh yes. The brighter, darker red spot you see is where she had already scratched it to bleeding. We usually have to put anti-bacterial cream on it because she scratches to the point of bleeding and deep scratches that get all scabby. That picture was taken approximately 20minutes after we started her on a gluten challenge after being gluten-free for 6...
  19. I have. We have talked about it. The only thing holding us back is possible testing for my 13mo old. If M's genetics test comes back that she is genetically predisposed, I want to have E (my 13mo old son) genetically tested, and then possibly have the Celiac panels run on him as well. Also, possibly having hubby and I tested..... Well you see where this...
  20. Thank you, it is nice to hear that from someone who has "been there." With something so "iffy" I am constantly second guessing myself. Then my husband has moments when he second guesses- we were sitting in the allergist's office and he says "Do you think it is at least possible her reaction (when we had to go to the ER) was coincidental to giving her bread...
  21. Oh yes, I got that advice from someone else on the forum as well...don't remember who. The GI has Celiac himself, so I'm hoping....
  22. I have no doubt that my pediatrician would right that. She is fantastic. She readily admitted that she didn't know a lot about Celiac, and (knowing me and how much I research) offered to refer me to whomever I wanted to take M (my daughter) to. The GI doc comes highly recommended as well- so I'm hoping for lots of info at our visit in a week.
  23. Yup. I was hoping DH dx would be the kicker, but I was just reading some of your other posts and just read that it won't come back positive unless she is on gluten. Dangit. I want to do the genetics test to rule out Celiac if we can. Otherwise it will be what the Dr's will dx her by symptoms. We gave her 2 pieces of bread to start the gluten challenge...
  24. No, she is off of gluten She has been off of gluten since November 2012, and only had about 9 months of gluten containing foods before that due to severe vomiting before she was a year old. She has only eaten gluten containing products from 14 months to 22 months of age. I took her off gluten for the eczema not even knowing about Celiac. We tried a gluten...
