  1. Its really hard not having any sort of "real" diagnosis. I keep telling myself for my son, the only thing that matters is that he needs to be gluten free for now. It makes such a huge difference. However, when you say gluten intolerance, people kind of don't take it as seriously. (to which I want to give him gluten and have him live at their house for a few...
  2. I am still not sure a year later if I am barking up the right tree - but here it goes! I have a now 3 year old that was having diarrhea constantly about a year ago. Was also not growing (percentiles dropped significantly in height) and was waking up all night long. Blood work was normal, endoscopy was negative. Even the genetics came back negative. That...
  3. My 2yo son hasnit officially been diagnosed, blood and endo both negative, but the GI still thinks he has it. I feel like I struggle with this because, he looks so good off gluten I forget about him waking all night screaming, big belly, and loose stools! It's like I think it was all in my head. Anyway, once in a blue moon he would get gluten accidentally...
  4. I am throwing this out to adult land because the kids board isn't very active. Long story short, my daughter has been gluten free at home but eating gluten at least a few times a week outside the home. This is because my younger child probably has celiac per his GI (also a long story). My daughter has been having some tummy troubles and GI wants her blood...
  5. Sometimes I wonder if the antibiotics spur on celiac. Like they already have it, but the meds make it come out. My son got diarrhea after antibiotics but it never went away. Blood work at that age is not a good indicator. My sons bloodwork and biopsies are all negative, but he was only 2 with the blood work. Even though the scope was negative, he is doing...
  6. I guess the only reason I am asking is because she was never really gluten free. More like gluten light . I don't know if that makes a difference
  7. My 2 year has been worked up for celiac, but blood tests negative. He had an EGD which was also negative but had already been gluten free. We only did a gluten challenge for 2 weeks because he symptoms were so bad. He has been strictly gluten free for 6 months and thriving! The GI doc that I love is convinced it's celiac. We are going to do the genetic testing...
  8. This sounds odd, but it's so nice to hear someone say they almost cried when the biopsy didn't show anything! I feel the same way. I just wanted a concrete answer! Sick, I know. I really wouldn't wish celiac on anyone! I just want to have a straightforward answer. Now I just feel like I put my kid through a procedure for nothing. I know gluten is not good...
  9. My son had an EGD and sigmoidoscopy on Monday, upper biopsies negative. Waiting for sigmoid biopsies, but I thought it wasn't usually found that low. In some strange way I am disappointed because I feel like now I have no answer. He is just really gluten intolerant I guess. I know that gluten free helps, but I feel like when you say your son is gluten intolerant...
  10. My son had his endoscopy with biopsy today. Did well, no visible issues so waiting for biopsy results. Straight back to gluten free diet for him. Gave him a bowl of goldfish for a last hoorah....he was up 4 times in the middle of the night. I don't care what the biopsy says, his body cannot handle gluten! Hoping it doesn't show anything but at the same time...
  11. We have decided to scope to make sure that it isn't something else like eosinophilic gastritis. I really trust my GI doctor (I actually work as a nurse in the childrens center, so I hand picked my GI doctor!) Question though....would he have frequent/constant diarrhea with celiac? He only stools two or three times a day, and it's not always watery. All...
  12. Newbie here. I just wanted to share my journey to see if anyone can relate. My 2 year old had diarrhea on and off for at least 6 months before I thought anything of it. He is a thumb sucker and kid number two, so I just thought he was getting sick until someone pointed out his diarrhea and thag no one else was ever sick. I think I was in denial! His height...
