  1. This was actually very immediate. Before I was even finished with the meal, actually. But I am kind of new at this........even though it's been a few years, I think my many mistakes and lack of diligence have caused me to become more sensitive to it, if that makes sense.
  2. I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake. I thought the meal was safe and while I was eating it it occured to me that it could have flour in the sauce. I don't know why I didn't ask, and now I'm paying for it. Ugh
  3. I just ate a meal from a vegetarian restaurant that I thought was gluten free, but now I have a stomach ache and awful indigestion immediately afterward---I feel awful. Is it possible to be glutened so immediately? Argh.
  4. Thank you for understanding. This is exactlty why I'd like to have a doctor who is on board about this, and other holistic and preventative issues. I have been self-diagnosing for so long that it would be nice to have a doctor who can work with me on the issues to help me find the data I need, and there are certain conditions that can be actually worsened...
  5. I live in NYC, am frustrated as hell with all my symptoms, feel like a hypochondriac, and my doctor isn't really very supportive or aggressive with investigating what is going on with my system. When I had a different doctor no longer with the practice, she sent me to a nutritionist who put me on an elimination diet which seemed to indicate I was having...
  6. Thanks all. I have a growing list of resources now...
  7. Yes, Jerseyangel, that is exactly what is happening to me--exactly the same eye, too! It calms down but never completely goes away. If I watch my intake and don't wear makeup, it seems to be fine, but when I wear makeup, it seems to get a bit irritated, and worse if I wear makeup for several days in a row. I am really bummed out about it, honestly, because...
  8. Cute little doggies you have there. And a great HST quote. I may have to steal that one for my Myspace page.
  9. I am wondering if anyone has ever found a compiled and updated list of products that are ok and not ok to eat for a gluten-free diet? It would sure be of help to me, since I am finding out new things every day.
  10. So I've stopped drinking beer altogether. Not that I'm a big drinker or anything, but I do like to have a cocktail when I go out. My favorites are vodka, sake, red wine occasionally. But a friend has said recently that a lot of vodka is made with wheat. Is she right? I've never had a reaction with vodka, but I sure have with beer.
  11. Thanks for the info. I am not sure it is what I have because it affects just the lid, not the inner eye or the lashes, but I am going to try the compresses, cleaning routine and massage (I found this info on google) It did calm down finally and I've been much more stringent with the gluten. I am just going to have to keep watching it.
  12. A little background on me: I have determined two and a half years ago (?) that I have a gluten allergy through a nutritionist putting me on a special 'elimination diet' where I eliminated all possible allergens from my diet and added them back one at a time for a week apiece, for every meal of the day. I had been experiencing respiratory symptoms and wheezing...
