  1. Many people do not know that, before being diagnosed I wished for ADD or something because my friend got a lot of help about missing school because she has that. Well, she's a resturant major, so she was telling me about "gluten guy" at her hospitality school dinners. When I said "HEY! I GOT THAT BE NICE!" She's the one who told me that I'd qualify for disability...
  2. MANY OF US ARE HELPING OTHER ISSUES! I too got my local grocery store to stock a ton of gluten free items. There was nothing when it first opened, the stuart fine foods of plam city. I complained and before you know it there's nut thins, rice crackers, ener-g bread, pamela's cookies, amy's frozen foods, amy's soups and alexia brand potatoes, etc. I also...
  3. Are you maintaining a completely gluten free diet? In your post you stated that "when you eat gluten I always have problems". I say this because my aunt was diagnosed by a doctor who is unknowlegeable about the disease and told it was okay at eat gluten once a week. The problem is that the damages caused by gluten affect you for more than a day or...
  4. Loving it! You defintely beat me out. I was lucky, I was all glutened out when I took my blood test. My antigliadins were a 20, that's high right? If not it should be cause I felt really sick when I took the test! They did test me for diabetes, pregnancy, anurizms, coltitis and a few others that came up negative. Your doctor (endo) must have been...
  5. We are not faulting doctors for not knowing or not diagnosing a disease. We are faulting them for not listening or being compassionate toward their patients. To say that all or most doctors are compassionate or at minimum fulfill their LEGAL FIDUCIARY DUTY to their patients, is hard thing for many of us and in most cases NOT THE TRUTH. There have been...
  6. I loved your POST!! the #3 is the fiduciary duty that professionals (doctors, lawyers, accountants and pharmacists) owe to their clients (or patients). The problem with the way that we, "hypochondriac" or "poor doer", people are treated by the medical community is that - it is hard to prove that we sustained damages that directly resulted from this...
  7. hahha...I've been watching that stupid "flavor of love" it's such a train wreck, I highly reccomend it!
  8. It's sad they have an actual term for us, other than hypochondriac! My aunt is going through the same thing. She's not of blood relation, but she has symptoms of scleroderma and they checked her for other stuff and told her to go home from the ER. Things got worse when she went home, she was getting dizzy and the skin on her legs and arms got so tight...
  9. Oh stop it, nobody's threatening you. you gotta be careful, the doctor loving mob will report me agian.
  10. I got that, "what exactly are you doing here?".
  11. It may be possible, they are just looking for a reaction in your skin when they poke you. The blood test can be done by your regular doctor. They are testing for the antibody. Does anybody know what a normal level is for that test? What's low what's high? Is normal a 0??? Mine was a 20, is that really high? I always have a bad reaction...
  12. HUMILIATING is a PERFECT word to describe how they made us feel! Did you see cornholio's comment about the BRIGHTEST CRAYON SHIRT! That would be a reason to go to the dr! lol! Does anyone know about the gliadin levels!??!?
  13. Unfortunately, HMOs don't regulate lunch hours (not to my knowlege at least). We can thank the Drug Reps for that. They wine and dine those A-holes from 11 to 1. As for your doctor, he's a obviously a dummy. I've been there too (in the waiting room for over an hour). Except I was throwing up and hadn't eaten in almost 3 days and decided not to go to...
  14. As for your malabsorption, I'm sorry to hear that. Obviously, all of us have our health problems and wouldn't be on here if we didn't. BUT if you can't take the criticizm, than don't dish it out. Because you absolutely did! (Also, please note that I said you were "one of the first", which means you are in a group with others). Here is what YOU said...
  15. Rachel: That 10 minutes (it's usually 15 minutes) is based on how much money the firm wants to make. They figure the insurance pays them so much for visit, they figure out how much that visit costs and deduct that amount. Let's say they get $150 per visit, the direct cost associated with the visit is $50. They now have a profit, or contribution margin...
  16. I'm sorry to hear about you and your mom too. HOWEVER, we obviously deal with anger differently. I am perfectly calm right now and normal, but I don't hold things in. (My blood pressure is also extremely LOW). I feel that this (talking about my anger, no matter how "mean" ) helps me to be objective in listening to others opinions, although I...
  17. It is not for your to judge whether or not the "doctor bashing" is doing anybody any good. Trust me, I have been sick enough, if I want to make myself sicker by "being hateful" than that is my business and this is SUPPOSED to be a safe place for me or anybody else to do that. This is an online support group for gluten free, celiacs and those who are...
  18. Not this time
  19. my point exactly, if doctors are so great how come you are self diagnosing? Oh well, at least yours would listen to you! hahah
  20. NOT TRUE- Alba Pharmeaseuticals (sp?) is "working" on a drug. Not that any of us would actually take it. I wouldn't at least, gluten is gross.
  21. you obviously have some bias. LET ME SHED SOME LIGHT ON YOUR POST: "DON'T GO BACK TO THE IDIOTS" - MANY OF US HATE DOCTORS BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN TO 20 OR MORE AND MAYBE FIND ONE THAT ISN'T A COMPLETE IDIOT (IF YOU'RE LUCKY). "SKIP THE ONES WITH THE GOD COMPLEXES" - MOST DOCTORS HAVE GOD COMPLEXES, TRUST ME I KNOW I'VE BEEN TO 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  22. The CANADIAN medical system is MUCH different from the American medical system. In America the drug companies can charge whatever they want, affecting the entire healthcare system in a negative way. Furthermore, you have socialized medicine, while many of us are stuck with HMOs that control our choice as to which doctor we see and what buearucracy we have...
  23. ME TOO!!! OMG, That was when my pediatrician told me that I was being an "actress" in front of my mother. Every few months I'd throw up with no reason, I'd feel fine and just start throwing up all of the sudden and be sick for days. He just wrote an rx for promethazine and told my mom that i "probably had a virus". This went on countless times, but every...
  24. If you had a doctor diagnose you in the first visit you are the huge minority. Most of us have been to the doctor for a long long time, suffering the whole way. Being treated like hypochondriacs. There is not as much doctor bashing as there should be on here or was at one time. Many of us have good reason to doctor bash and we are not just "venting our...
  25. Oh thank you!! the is the F** em doctors board!!!
