  1. Omg!! Dayla! SO hope you get this! I never got notified of your response on here, just logged in today and finally saw it! Hope you are still wanting to meet up! And hope your recovery from celiac damage is going as well as it can be! I would love if you and I could get a meetup group started in the area or something! I am making it my goal to get a group...
  2. I am in the process of trying to Re-start up the Middle Georgia Gluten Intolerance Group as Branch Manager. I am in need of a secretary and treasurer to get this back up and running. This is through the non-profit Gluten Intolerance Group of North America (GIG), the only thing anyone would have to pay for is membership annually (which isn't going to be a...
  3. Cycling Lady: The pollen counts are coming down, and I definitely think I have allergies. I have been taking flonase and singulair for that and I think it helps, But I am starting to think the reflux and bumps in my throat are coming from repeated gluten exposure. I don't think I have been being as careful as I should be. And I am really kicking myself. ...
  4. I took acid reducers for just a short time.. and all it did was make it ten times worse. I took nexium and also zantac. Not at the same time. And both made it worse. I would wake up with coughing fits in the middle of the night. My throat hurt even more and it was even more red. So I am not taking those again.
  5. Thanks! I'm not for certain that is what the problem is, for all the doctor and I know I could just have bad seasonal allergies. It seems to get bad again once I go outside, open the door, etc. I live in Georgia and the pollen counts have been crazy high all month. Basically the doctor has me on all this medication for a month and if I still haven't improved...
  6. I have been scoped back in August after I was diagnosed. But I haven't since then. At the time I wasn't having these problems. I have had them off and on since October. I went to the doctor today and he actually thinks it might be Eosinophilic Esophagitis, He prescribed me Flonase and Singulair, I have tried the flonase already today and have noticed a little...
  7. So I have had what I can only describe as "Cobblestone throat" for months now. It looks like small acne or boils in the back of my throat, around my uvula and tonsils, there are some on my tonsils too. I'm pretty sure it is caused by my acid reflux and when I went into the doctor over a month ago, they agreed that acid reflux was probably the cause. But what...
  8. I was diagnosed with Celiac in July. I got a referall from my GI doctor back in February for a nutritionist/dietician because I was still having problems and of course it was denied because apparently people with Celiac disease are just supposed to figure it out on their own. I was planning on fighting it, but have been feeling better now, and learning...
  9. So I was diagnosed with Celiac back in July. Been gluten free ever since. Had several glutenings for a while and I am sure those set me back. But for several months now, I have completely stopped going out to eat. And I also cut out all dairy. It is just not worth the risk for me right now. I had an endoscopy in the fall to confirm my celiac diagnosis. and...
  10. If anyone has taken Tri-nessa birth control, what is your experience with it? Is it gluten free or did you have problems with it? I have been very strict with my diet, but I am still experiencing lingering symptoms, my stomach is really uncomfortable most of the time and I keep getting bad acne type cysts on my chin every month.. Could it be the birth control...
  11. I wrote this to Starbucks: Hello, I am writing in regards to the gluten free status of your espresso drinks and your soy milk. Which of the syrups (vanilla, caramel etc) are gluten free and is the soy milk you use gluten free? Or better yet, what all in your stores besides the baked goods (obviously contain gluten) contain gluten? so I can stay away from...
  12. Hi all! I am a pretty newly diagnosed Celiac, Found out July 2nd. Are any of you in the Middle Georgia area, Like Warner robins, macon, area? I am looking to meet some gluten free friends! I have only met two other celiacs so far and they live very far away. It would be nice to chat it up with you guys and make some friends that know what I am going...
  13. I might have to ask about that oil too! I hope it helps you!! Thanks for the info!! It is good to know I am not alone in this! This is the hardest time of my life and it makes me so upset to think about so many others that are struggling too. Having celiac is not for the faint of heart that's for sure.
  14. Thanks so much! This is extremely helpful, I think you are right on the money, because after I read your post, I downloaded that app on my phone, and calculated how many calories I have eaten today and I have only had 1,200! That is not good I eat all day! but apparently not enough fat rich foods or foods with more calories, I have been eating a mostly...
  15. Thanks! I don't think it is xanthan gum I am having a problem with. but I might just cut it out of some of my baking for a while just to see for sure. I can also use a couple of other things instead of xanthan gum. I think I just need be more careful when I do go out to eat. I am not as persistent about my food as I should be sometimes. But that's...
  16. Hello Everyone, I am a Celiac and am still having issues keeping on weight after being gluten free since July. I have definitely been glutened multiple times between then and now. But the last couple months, I have been even more careful and don't go out to eat very often at all. I found out I also have a problem with all dairy products, milk, butter...
  17. Just diagnosed with Celiac beginning of last month and still learning every day.. I have read a lot about how taking a probiotic of some sort helps the healing process more. What are your suggestions everyone? or what has worked for you? I am looking for something not too too expensive, one with multiple strains of bacteria and one that doesn't need to...
  18. Thank you so much everyone for your insight! I have decided to purchase a mask for the time being until I find myself another job. Which I am doing ASAP. I really appreciate that you took the time out of your day to help me and give me advice. Your advice and understanding has made me feel so much better and less alone in this. All of you and Jennifer Esposito...
  19. So I just recently have been diagnosed with celiac disease, it has been about a month. I have been pretty strict with the gluten free diet, but of course I have been making the occasional mistake because it's all new to me still. My dilemma is that I am a baker, I have loved baking my entire life, it is my passion and one of the things that truly gives...
  20. Hello everyone, So I was told I have Celiac disease by my doctor about 3 weeks ago. (From a blood test, two of the tests for celiac came back positive) I had been suffering from pretty bad symptoms before the diagnosis and this explained all of them. I was super irritable everyday, bouts of constipation or diarrhea, headaches, occasional nausea, lightheadedness...
