I'm sorry, I just need to vent, and I know y'all will understand! So, I went in for my colonoscopy on Wednesday...by the way, if you have to have one, find an alternative to Fleet phosho-soda--that is the foulest, saltiest stuff ever! Anyway, my GI TOLD me he would do biopsies, and have a celiac blood panel done. I know the biopsies from the colon...

Thanks for the replies! That's what I thought, thought the pamplet on the colonoscopy procedures said sometimes they can get the scope through the opening, into the small intestine...I was wondering if that's how he'd do it. Needless to say, I have lots of questions for him on Wednesday! -

I've had a colonoscopy scheduled for Wednesday, and the appointment was made before I learned about celiac being a possability (less than 2 weeks ago). I can't really give any advice on flare-ups and all, since I'm not going to be tested until Wednesday, but I can relate to bloating and gas after eating. Immediately, I'll blow up and look 6 months pregnant...I can smypathize!! -

This is an interesting possible connection. I'm not officially diagnosed with anything yet (go back to the GI a week from today), but no matter what my fluid intake is I always have to go pee! Plus, I had hemmoragic (sp?) cystitis a month and a half ago. It was my first one, but man, I thought I was going to die, it hurt SO bad!! -

Thank you! I do have a question about some of my symptoms: What does it mean to have all sorts of undigested food in a BM, and why is there so much mucous with it? Sometimes it's literally covering anything that comes out. Even when I had to take an enema, most of what came out was globs of mucous...TMI, I know. Do those problems indicate malabsorption... -

I know this isn't about gluten free foods, but it is along the same lines... I don't know if I'm lactose intolerant or if it's the casein in dairy, but growing up I've never really handled moderate amounts of dairy well. Thank y'all both so much for replying! This is the first GI I have been to...I *do* like him, yet I feel like y'all in that he may not be considering celiac disease/gluten because of some atypical symptoms. He is so much better than my PCP, though-she told me to drink more water and eat more brocolli! Well, DUH...I can't say I haven't learned anything... -
