  1. Hi all, I appreciate the information that is posted here SOOOOOO much. So many things are making sense now. I am overweight too and getting starting the gluten-free diet in which I am hoping to lose weight NOT gain it, eek. I somehow always feel hungry too no matter if I've eaten a short time ago. Thank you all for the great info., it makes me feel...
  2. Mariann, I am right there with you. I had been "mostly" gluten free for a couple months, when in November, they told me to go back on it. I was sooooo scared to start eating it again. I had my biopsy in December after 3 weeks of ingesting the gluten. Only being off gluten for a couple weeks, your body wouldn't have much of a chance to heal I think....
  3. Hi Keri, Yes I can relate. I have had weight problems since I was about 18 or 19. I seem to stay heavy no matter what I eat. The GP always looks at me like there is nothing wrong with me that a good diet wouldn't cure. My health escalated and took a huge downturn this year and after almost a year, they have finally decided I have gluten allergies, with...
  4. Hi Kelly, Yes, my bio could be a carbon copy of yours. I could never explain my spaciness and lack of memory for certain things. My weight gain didn't make sense either. I was on zoloft for 3 years and they had to give me a booster for it, which in the end none of it really worked that well anyway. My thyroid has just started acting up, but if you do...
  5. Tarnalberry, I had been gluten free for 3 months on my nutritionists advice when my doctor put me back on to do the blood tests. I had already tested a week positive for gliaden antibodies while gluten free. He put me back on wheat for 3 weeks to have the biopsy done which was recently. I'm still feeling very sick from the wheat. What I will tell...
  6. Hi Visions20, Yes, I know celiac is a serious business. I'm 35 and been sick all my life. It was my nutritionist who suggested 6 months ago that I go gluten free before I had an actual diagnosis. I didn't need the dignosis to tell me that she was right. LisaB is right about that I meant to say "assume you have celiac", no matter what your friends...
  7. PS.........I just wanted to let everyone know to be careful of the supplements you buy. My nutritionist says she has only found 4 or 5 brands that are safe for gluten allergies. Many supposed gluten free products still dust their lines with flour. The following products are what she has deemed safe for me as far as supplements go.... Tyler Products...
  8. dhicky.......I too had kidney stones which finally made the dr. listen to me and run some tests. It's taken almost a year, but I now have the hope to work at getting better. With the depression I have to keep looking forward to something. Filititi....I know too how you feel. I have a totally wonderful family, an awesome husband, etc. I was on antidepressants...
  9. I have also had major weight gain, with no apparent reasons. My eyes don't work right sometimes and I can't walk upstairs without getting out of breath. I always feel like I have bronchitis too. No one wanted to diagnose me with celiac because of my weight, they thought all celiacs were very thin with just a large bloated stomach. It really helps to find...
  10. Weebits36, I saw a specialist for Celiac and he did the endoscopy with a biopsy. It was painless but confirmed the diagnosis. A colonoscopy wasn't suggested. I would listen to your body instead of your friends. Yes, it is a huge change in lifestyle, however, what's the harm in trying the diet for a short period to see if you feel better? I wish you...
  11. Thanks for the info Sarah. I'm scared to buy too much that is prepackaged at the store. My nutritionist told me that places that say they're gluten free, use the same lines as their gluten products. Supposedly they wash them down before hand, but I don't think it is enough. This is why I'm so frustrated with the disease, cooking isn't my favorite thing...
  12. Thank you all for your wonderful input. I am getting read to start a very strict diet with my nutritionist so I can figure out everything that I am allergic too. The supplements she has me taking are the following. Magnesium Glycinate Permeability Factor (to seal up my leaky gut) Gastric Complex Multiguard Vitamin with CoQ10 My Aminoplex (powdered...
  13. LisaB, I can't tell you how much better you made me feel, thank you!!! Thanks to everyone's inputs here, I'm learning a lot. Now that I have the diagnosis, I'm going back to my nutritionist, she knows her stuff, she specializes in Celiac. I guess I was having a big mood swing this morning but am feeling better at the moment. I know in a few months...
  14. There are so many symptoms, but of course everyone is different. I have lots of joint pain, huge mood swings (I'll feel happy one minute and the next like I could cry my eyes out for no reason). When the contamination is at it's worst, I get terrible migraines and can't function. I have acid reflux when my duodenum swells up, it pushes on my ribs and gives...
  15. I am 35 years old and have never felt well. I took a terrible downturn this year and gave up on the doctor's and started seeing a nutritionist. She is the one who figured out I have gluten allergies. I went to te dr's to get a diagnosis who after 6 months have finally come up with a confirmed diagnosis of Celiac Sprue. I was wheat free for a couple months...
  16. I also am disappointed to find the old information gone. This board had the most information of anyplace I have been. Thanks to the site, it has helped me figure out what my problem was after 35 years. Thank you to all who helped me get there! Lily
