  1. I have recently had another question pop up in my head & so here I am (yet) again! I have heard that people who are celiac are often intolerant to milk and soy products & I was wondering if this would show up on blood test results? My milk & soy levels were both 'normal' (I don't know the exact numerical range as none was shown, but I could...
  2. Thanks everyone for all your beneficial feedback! It's all so appreciated! It is awful (to put it lightly!) - it feels like sheer hell each night, though it has reduced some after going gluten-free a few weeks ago. I was thinking about making an appointment to see my dermatologist to see what she might have to say incase her two cents might help me some...
  3. I read through the forum some (have to take in all this important info in small doses!) and am so elated at what you said about this "rebound effect" because it is so fitting to what I am currently going through! While it sucks (putting it lightly) I am glad that I at least have some kind of answer. I have heard that DH is common in certain places, the...
  4. I've had severe 24/7 constant, gnawing indigestion and heartburn that is ridiculous.. Started happening badly after consumption of onions & so I figured I just couldn't tolerate that (years ago), but then it progressed to peppers (which I used to looove), hot sauce etc and right before my tentative diagnosis almost everything caused heartburn within an...
  5. You have been incredibly helpful!! I am certain my rash is DH (so is my dr), which is why I believe he advised I start the gluten-free diet ASAP. While my rash has cleared up considerably (and overnight - literally) it still does itch sometimes even in places where there is no blatant rash. Is this normal? Also, the places where it has/still is clearing up...
  6. Great - thank you. I know I was on a very high dose and I was on it for quite some time. I respect doctors highly.. Just amazed at their ability to understand some things.
  7. Hm, very interesting. This is what I have heard but my allergist (the one who requested the blood panel for me) was told that I was on a steroid. I guess he isn't too educated in the world of Celiac & gluten intolerances. I know some doctors don't want to "buy" that as a diagnosis, but it gives me peace of mind. Does anyone else have info on the possibility...
  8. Wow - one more question to inquire about.. I just read that being on steroids can cause a false negative on blood test results.. Now I was on steroids prior to my testing, during and after. This is because my regular doctor (who I saw before my allergist) gave me steroids in attempt to clear up my mysterious rash, which I believe is DH. Is this true...
  9. Hm, interesting about their symptoms clearing up with a gluten-free diet because that's what has/currently is happening to me. Without accurate results from blood tests I am left to go by my results from the diet switch. I have heard that is the best way to go anyway. I am guessing that because my dr adviced the gluten-free diet before my blood work that...
  10. Wow - thanks for such a compassionate & understanding reply. Also, thanks for the encouragement as I go forward asking questions in a very unclear and otherwise confusing & slightly frustrating situation. Unfortunately since I've been gluten-free & do feel and physically see progress (my skin is already clearing up slowly but surely) I really...
  11. Also, has anyone else here experienced false negative results? If so, does anyone know how prevalent these readings are? I read that one in four celiac's are missed through blood panel readings. I am really just reaching here to see if someone can give me their story so I could see if I can relate. Thanks again.
  12. Thanks for all of your informative input - I really appreciate it all!! That being said, I am just a slight bit confused (sorry; stay with me as I am really new to all of this). I am just concerned that my already being gluten free for a short time prior to my blood test could have had an effect on my results - could it have? And more importantly, why...
  13. I am in a similar situation boat & it sucks, believe me - I hear you! I'm not sure what to do about my blood test results either but I know I am going to continue to not consume gluten as I already feel better this way. So, in reality, you know your body best - do what you feel! If someone could help me out with my question too, that'd be great!
  14. I got my results back & have a follow-up scheduled with my allergist two weeks from now but I wanted to get to the root of my issue ASAP, which is why I'm posting here. He ran a series of bloodwork on me and did include the Celiac panel, however, it only includes three specific categories, which baffles me as there are typically several different ones...
  15. Thanks so much - many of the things you have provided me have been both helpful & informative. Luckily I am getting my blood test only two days following my tentative diagnosis but I will be sure to bring this to my dr's attention. I can't imagine why he would have failed to know this. Quick question: is an intenstinal/GI biopsy the next step after...
  16. Thanks for the valuable input! It's only been two days and like I said, I may have come into contact with gluten yesterday anyway so I'm really not too deep into this diet yet. I'm just confused as to why my dr would suggest this? I guess he is confident that I am intolerant, didn't want to prolong my suffering anymore and figured a few days wouldn't make...
  17. Hello all, I have been to the drs since my last post questioning if I had celiac disease or not & my dr felt that a Celiac panel was more than necessary, as he agrees my symptoms are that of the disease. Anyway, he instructed that I go gluten-free even before the bloodwork he wants me to go for - doesn't this defeat the purpose? I have followed...
  18. Yes, EKG was normal as I stated. My dr. said he does not feel my symptoms are due to cardiac reasons and I do agree.
  19. Thank you for informing me of the necessary tests. I will hopefully have a dr. appt by the end of the week. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced heart palps in conjunction with celiac ? They came on suddenly and have tapered off considerably (though they've taken months..literally) but they do happen literally every.single.morning without...
  20. Let me also add, if this is of any help at all, my palpitations really seem to happen every morning after I have completed breakfast. All I usually ever eat is oatmeal or a bagel, alternating throughout the week. It doesn't matter at what time I eat, how slow or fast I consume the food - I get the palps soon thereafter. They used to be horrendous but they...
  21. Yes, I had my thyroid tested and as far as I am concerned it all checked out normal. My dr. thought I might have a thyroid problem seeing as the way I was presenting with my symptoms. I was tested for the herpes virus (which I do have the oral version of - corfimed in said blood test) and I was also tested for several electrolytes and vitamins/minerals....
  22. I really need some help clearing up a host of mystery symptoms I've had since July of this year.. One night I went to sleep and had a sudden onset of heart palpitations. I thought they would be gone by morning but little did I know I would still have them months later. I went to the dr. twice & received two blood tests (not celiac panels either time...
