ARCHIVED Fatigue, hair loss and latest labwork
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope she gets good news soon! Doctors office finally called back Friday. The doctor doesn't kin what else to do or what tests to run so he said I should come for a follow up in six months. Nope. I asked if I could be referred and the nurse said the dr wasn't even sure who I should see for my wide range of symptoms. Seriously? So I asked to be referred... -

Icelandgirl - Thanks for that info. I just feel like it has to be thyroid despite my labs. I hadn't considered an ultrasound. Can I regular dr "prescribe" that or do I need a referral to a specialist? I definitely don't want a biopsy, but all the weird symptoms are getting me down. I need answers. How's your mom? I hope everything turns out ok! ... -
ARCHIVED Fatigue, hair loss and latest labwork

ataglance - I hadn't considered an ultrasound after everything came back "fine". Interesting. They still need to call me back with the ANA results so I'll ask about that. Hoping if that's fine too he will refer me. My insurance likes referrals which complicates things. He'd mentioned a rheumatologist but I'm thinking endocrinologist. After I went through... -

First labs ran in May by my family dr were: TSH (.942), glucose, sodium, potassium, chloride, co2, calcium ca, calcium corrected, bun, creatinine, protein, albumin, albumin ratio, bilirubin, alkaline phosphates, AST, alt, egfr, WBC, rbc, hbo, hct, mcv, much,... -

ARCHIVED celiac disease in East Tennessee
Stacy0w replied to Arasmas's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Arasmas, I moved here from northern Indiana. It's funny how regional food is so different. Good luck at Red Robin. I ate at one in Ohio and it was great. I forgot about Turkey Creek having one. First time eating out at a celiac was RR and I got misty eating a burger on a bun. Plain fries were great too. Anything in a bag or box Gluten-Free is high.... -

Usually when going out I just say I have a gluten allergy. Good enough. People understand that, but celiac takes a lot of explaining and I'm not always up for that. I did some more hunting for you. Archers bbq has great reviews on the find me gluten free app for being celiac friendly. Lots of options. There is a pizza place in Sville called Ninos.... -
ARCHIVED celiac disease in East Tennessee
Stacy0w replied to Arasmas's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am hardly on here anymore, but came to look up some supplement info and I saw an East Tennessee post! I am in Jeff. County! You're right. There is little to no support system/groups locally. It's frustrating. Wgg should start a facebook group or something I can't be of much help on eating out. My husband and I have two smaller kids one who also is... -
Sjogrens or something else
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
He didn't do any autoimmune type testing. I always have dry eyes, but I'm still able to wear contacts most days. My mouth doesn't feel dry usually, but I've had serious dental issues the past few years. Could just be celiac deficiencies catching up I suppose. My protein was 8.2 where 7.9 was the max for lab range. Not crazy high. I read an article... -

Sigh. Got the labs back. CBC all normal. Comprehensive metabolic panel the only things that were off were calcium, ca and protein, total. Both were high. I had the stomach bug a few days prior and wisdom teeth out a few weeks before that. They think minor dehydration and my calcium corrected dis normal. Vit d is 59. Highest I'd ever had preceliac was 24... -
ARCHIVED Checkup -- recommended labs?
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I asked for the regular full check up labs like CBC, a full thyroid panel and vitamin/min deficiencies. They called to say all labs look good so the dr is puzzled about my symptoms. I'm frustrated. :-/. Requested my labs but it'll be a few days. Thanks for asking -
I went to the dr (pcp) with my list of symptoms and list of tests and questions. I assumed I'd get the call back saying my thyroid was whacked out and go from there. Well, they called today to say all labs looks really good and the dr is puzzled by my symptoms. Awesome. Story of my life. I haven't received the labs back yet but he was supposed to run the...

Diagnosed Dec 2014. The only test that came back abnormal was gliadin iga. Getting my first checkup post diagnosis tomorrow with my new PCP and wondering what to ask for. Full celiac panel or just the one that was previously high? Vitamin and minerals deficiencies? I've been D def in the past. Based on symptoms and history I'm convinced I have thyroid...

ARCHIVED Classic Celiac In Kids???
Stacy0w replied to MissyBB's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son is 7. He's a small kid. He will be eight and is trying to hit the 4' mark and 50lbs. When he was six almost every day he complained to but his stomach. Every now and then he'd throw up but usually due to constipation. X-ray done showed he was super constipated and they wanted us to keep him in Miralax. W had him skin and blood tested for allergies... -
Quite honestly this is one of the most painful things ever. And I've had two kids so I'm not being a wimp. I'm scheduled to get all my wisdom teeth removed Monday. Really freaked out. I'm wondering if meds will impact me differently because of the celiac. I used to respond well to meds, but since Sunday I've been on penicillin then switched to amoxicillin...

ARCHIVED Thyroid lab result question
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks ladies for your input. Maybe I truly don't have a thyroid problem, but knowing what tests to ask for to make sure is important. I've learned through all this celiac stuff that I need to do my homework before I go to the dr. Since my mom has hashimotos and I've mentioned that you'd think a dr would double check that, but to this point that hasn't happened... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid lab result question
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
not sure about lab range only that all results fell in their normal range. Could I have hashimotos and have "normal" labs with the exception of the antibodies test they didn't run? I haven't had my hormones checked. I'm fairly certain about gluten. I don't eat out and have a gluten free home including cleaners, lotions, etc. -
My mom has hashimotos and my grandma had thyroid issues as did her mom. I have tons of symptoms so I asked to be tested. They just ran three tests. All were normal, but now I'm wondering what normal is. As I said I have tons of issues. Hbir loss mostly at temples, lack of umph, so tired, waking up middle of sleeping and can't go back to sleep, feeling cold...

ARCHIVED Son was glutened ?s about reaction
Stacy0w posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Backstory...I have celiac and he had symptoms but tests were negative. We took him off gluten last June and saw huge improvement. Since he's had gluten three times that we know of. The first two he ended up emotional and threw up the following day. On Saturday he got gluten and seemed a little off but didn't complain about his stomach in Sunday. Monday and... -

ARCHIVED Wrinkled fingertips, swollen thumb, hair loss...weird stuff
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The only thing my insurance would cover was vit D and it was low. Can't afford to do more right now if not covered. My thumb with swell and hurt for a few days and a few weeks later I notice the ridges so I think it's due to the swelling. Shrug -
ARCHIVED Wrinkled fingertips, swollen thumb, hair loss...weird stuff
Stacy0w replied to Stacy0w's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks, everyone! I have not been retested for celiac. I guess that is something I should do. The thyroid tests the ran were TSH, T3 and T4. My mom has hashimotos, fibro, chronic fatigue, raynauds. I have raynauds. Her sister has MS. Autoimmune party in my family line. Is there a specific hashimotos test to ask about? Based on symptoms I figure I've had...
