  1. I've been Gluten-Free for a year. A year ago after freaking out I was excited to start feeling better. Well, I'm still waiting. I guess my stomach is better than it had been. My fingertip are still super wrinkly and no one knows why they are wrinkled to begin with. My right thumb swells less, but still randomly swells for a few days then goes back to normal...
  2. Awesome! I bought it at a similar store for $3 and then panicked over the gluten thing so YAY for it being ok!
  3. Ok thanks, everyone. I read I could sub maple syrup so that's what I did for the cake. After reading your comments I will open the vanilla and be ready for next time
  4. I've seen mixed info on pure vanilla extract containing gluten or not. I have a bottle of Back Bay Trading pure vanilla, but can't find info. I emailed yesterday but haven't heard back and I need to make a bday cake in the next few hours. I have a baby so don't want to go to the store if I don't have to. Couldn't find a phone number online so I'm asking here...

    ARCHIVED Hair Loss

I had my thyroid tested (not just t3) in December at the same time I was tested for celiac and it was fine. Is it fairly common for the thyroid to freak out with the gluten free diet switch? For whatever it's worth my mom has hashimotos. Grr. Guess I'll go get that tested once we get our insurance back (lost job). Maybe biotin won't be as rough on me as...
  6. Diagnosed by blood test before Christmas (fun) and gluten-free free since then. At the time of diagnosis they also tested iron and thyroid and both were fine. I've had far less stomach issues since. I had bad horizontal ridges in my nails and they have grown out now. But I'm still tired and have almost no hair left at my temples. I'm taking a multivitamin...
  7. Thanks for your response. When we had allergy testing done they did skin testing and then blood tests for over 200 different things (environmental and food). All negative which seems incredibly unlikely. He can't go outside when my husband mows because he starts sneezing, itching, watery eyes. Tried a food log, but couldn't make a connection. He goes mean...
  8. I was diagnosed with celiac in December. We had him tested a few months ago and it came back later, but they didn't run the entire panel like I asked. Since birth he's been a fussy mess. They said colic, but meds didn't help. Then allergies, but his allergy tests skin and blood were negative for everything. Excema. So we are trying gluten free. He has stomach...
  9. Diagnosed in December and gluten free. Last week I was nauseous and my insides felt like they were burning. Then a few days of feeling great. Today watery diarrhea several times in the past two hours. I've not eaten anywhere but here and checked everything. I actually had leftovers today so if it was gluten why was I fine yesterday? I'm so stinking frustrated...
  10. I'm new to all this and having a hard time finding a gluten-free dry cat food. I've found several that are grain free, but I'm not sure if they are gluten free truly. Earthborn Holistic, Hills Ideal or Crafted, several Blue Buffalo varieties, 4Health Grain free and Wellness Core Grain free. Any one have experience with any of these? He's almost out of his...
  11. I've had stomach issues my entire life, but was just diagnosed with celiac at 38. My mom has had health issues for years. Hypothyroid now hashimotos, chronic fatigue, fibro, connective tissue disorder and raynauds and constipation. She's also been deficient in D and B vitamins for years and years with no long term improvement despite megadoses and injections...
  12. I haven't had them tested recently because my insurance wouldn't cover it. In past yrs I've been vit D and B def. I'm taking a womens multi and a sublingual B. Nothing crazy. I can't afford another dr appt right now. I've googled and see a connection with my bumps and gluten. Trying to figure out what I'm doing "wrong".
  13. PreGF occasionally I'd get one somewhere on my hands. Almost tiny blisters. If itched enough clear fluid came out then they'd start going away. Well, over the course of today I have one (red spot no blister) on the ball of my foot and ten+ on my hand joints. Also have a sore on the side of my tongue. All since last night when in woke up with my tongue hurting...
  14. Received the results. It shows they only did the ttg Ab iga which was a 1 and the immunoglobin a whiich was 173. All the ige tests were negative as well. The overall immunoglobin e was a 27. I asked for a complete celiac panel and that's what they claim they did, but that's only two of the tests I wanted and then then the immuno e. Hmpf. So this doesn't rule...
  15. Yep it's hard! I was never a big food person. I ate because I had to, but aside from the two times I was pregnant I just didn't care that much. Now I feel food obsessed. Obsessed with research, recipes, planning, shopping, jealousy...stinks. I've tried to do my homework, but it seems the learning curve is quite high. Stainless stuff is ok, right? I've been...
  16. Well, we took him for allergy testing and celiac testing. They called and said everything was negative. I was and still am stunned. I didn't even think to ask questions. I just called back to get them to fax me the results. Since he was born he's had issues with poop. As a baby he'd poop as he ate so all day. Now he has constipation issues. He's always...
  17. I've tried to be very careful and have noticed less tummy problems. But my face is breaking out like never before. I'm 38 so I blame the gluten. Everything makes me cry now too. Did going gluten-free mess with your hormones? I'm also soo tired. Been vit D def. in the plastic, but insurance wouldn't cover a test this time. I'm guessing vit D and B issues...
  18. I hear ya! Diagnosed a few weeks ago. Merry Christmas to me. We live in a tiny. No gluten-free restaurants within 100 miles. We have maybe a 2' section of gluten-free food at our grocery store. It's frustrating. I've been eating chicken and rice or potato. Yesterday was sad for me because all of my fav foods were a no go. Going off gluten is messing with...
  19. Allergy issues such as congestion, rashes, sneezing and itchy eyes. Allergy issues is just ones of the things I listed. I left out specifics.
  20. I was just diagnosed so my two sons need to be tested, right? How accurate are tests for children (1 and 6)? Any specific things I need to tell their pediatrician? Sadly, I hope they find something on my 6 yr old. He is constantly having what seems like allergy issues, disgusting cough, dark circles, stomach aches, constipation, rage issues like none other...
  21. History - had stomach issues since I was 10 off and on. By high school I was on meds as needed or IBS. Had h pylori too. Now 38 and I'm tired, losing hair, dry skin and still have off and on stomach problems. Dr ran CBC, iron test, thyroid tests, rheumatoid tests, ANA, immunoglobin a (IgA) serum, tissue transglutaminase AB IGA and gliadin IGA ABS. Everything...
