  1. Can anyone give me some ideas to pack for my daughter for lunch. She is in high school. She doesn't like to eat much but she is going out for the soccer team in a couple of weeks. I need to send more food with her so she can make it through soccer practice. Up till now she would just eat a piece of fruit or a snack bar. To complicate things......we are...
  2. Wow! Thanks! We are vegan and now gluten free.
  3. Is the gene test accurate?
  4. Thanks! These responses have been helpful. I am not sure if I will do the gene test. We have spent so much $ as it is so far on doctors and psychiatrists. I will give that more thought. I have read the book Dangerous Grains. It convinced me more than ever that she has celiac. She is doing incredibly well now. I can't believe how much better she...
  5. I am thoroughly convinced that my daughter has celiac or gluten intolerance. She suffers from depression. If she is off gluten, she is not depressed. When she has gluten, the depression is horrible. I cannot risk giving her gluten to have her tested. The depression is too awful and I would feel horrible if she did something just so I can know for...
  6. We get the Organic brand and my 14 yo daughter likes them. She takes them for lunch everyday. They have different flavors so if he doesn't like one you can try another one. We get the vegan one.
  7. I juice for my family almost every morning. I just love the thought of sending my kids off to school with a stomach full of carrots and greens. Much better than any processed cereal . To me, it is totally worth the effort. My daughter has gone from a B & C student to a straight A student since we have started juicing and changing our diets. We...
  8. Thanks everyone for the replies. She already is doing much better. The severe depression has lifted. She still has a ways to go but I am so thankful for the improvement I have seen in just a few days. Now I just hope she doesn't get accidentally glutened. This week coming up is finals for her. If she can stay depression free, I will be so hopeful that...
  9. I did request gluten free vitamins. They are very good at dealing with gluten free issues. How would I find out about hidden glutens from other companies? She will get retested every year for the vitamins.
  10. In November we had her hair, blood, and urine tested. They tested for vitamin defiencies and heavy metal poisoing. She does have a ton of defiencies and is taking heavy doses of vitamins. These are all prescribed by the treatment center I took her to. We are watching her protein and giving her protein shakes. If she is celiac, how long would it take...
  11. Hi everyone, I posted a couple of months ago about my daughter that has depression. We tried gluten free then but couldn't stick to it for one reason or another. Since Christmas she has gone gluten free. Her depression lifted somewhat within a few days. She continues to have headaches and stomach aches. She says her stomach feels bloated all the...
  12. Thanks everyone for all the info. I will let you know how she is doing. We slipped up somewhat over thanksgiving but we are back on track now. It is hard to tell if it has made any difference yet. She is going through so much right now and we have not been consistent about staying off of the gluten.
  13. You're right......not what I want to hear. How accurate are the tests for celiac? Is it a blood test? Who would I go to to have her tested? I have read so much information and I am still not sure what the difference is between celiac and gluten intolerance. Can someone explain in simple terms the difference for me? Thanks, Maureen
  14. Thanks for all the replies. She has depression and social anxiety. We had to admit her into a psychiatric hospital (day program) this week because she cuts herself. There is no reason for the depression. My husband and I have a good marriage. Everything in her life is very good and she knows it. She is sad and she can't explain why she is sad. She...
  15. Hi everyone, I am new here. My daughter has suffered her whole life from depression. It has gradually gotten worse over the years. She is almost 15 years old. I have her on a vegan diet but have been reading more and more info about celiac disease causing depression. She is a carboholic. She absolutely loves bread, pasta, and any grain. It is normal...
  16. My daughter wet the bed for 13 years. I became a vegan and eventually got my whole family off of animal products. As soon as my daughter stopped consuming milk on a regular basis, the bedwetting stopped. She has not had one accident since. I didn't realize it was the milk until I read about it a year later. I thought she just finally outgrew it like...
