  1. It's funny because i actually already have 2 autoimmune diseases- I guess I just don't understand why he was so dismissive. It isn't like I'm hoping something is wrong. I actually expected negative bloodworm, but if the bloodwork doesn't matter, I guess I don't understand the point in doing it at all. I've generally been pretty happy with my medical care...
  2. I felt the same way- i wasn't sure when the medical profession moved to "first do harm, then confirm it's harmful"- but I guess that's where Celiac is categorized? I've had the genetic testing- positive for the genes. Literally, he is not convinced without visible damage. Has anyone else had a GI dr who practiced that way? I do think it was inadvertently...
  3. Well, results officially came back negative. He basically said that I had 2 strong positive blood results and one weak positive and a negative biopsy, so let's assume no celiac and keep going on gluten until we can see damage and then it's Celaic. Kinda confused and super irritated. I guess I don't understand how specific Celiac tests come back positive but...
  4. There are people on here much more knowledgeable than I, but I, too, am overweight and Celiac positive, and affected to the point that I have malabsorption of meds. I know weight loss is one of those "typical" symptoms- but it's not a universal symptom. Seems like a very ignorant response to me.
  5. Yep, no change in my daily gluten consumption- which is substantial! Dh? Dermatitis Herpetiformis? I don't have a rash. Honestly, my actual symptoms seem much milder than many others, the most bothersome of which overlap a great deal with my poorly controlled Hashimoto's. I think I was lucky- If you can say that with Celiac? Being on a regularly tested med...
  6. Once I take the plunge, I'm not going back- that seems like an awful thing to do to yourself and for no real gain. 6 months is a very, very, long time when you feel terrible! Especially after you've figured out what the problem is and have fixed it!
  7. I specifically asked how many he was taking (because of this page!) and he said 6- i know more than 6 is better, but at least he hit the minimum! Does the medical profession disregard the possibility of Celiac without a positive biopsy? Just seems like a flawed "gold standard" if it can't be 100% accurate! Seems to me that the biopsy should show SOME damage...
  8. Has anyone ever had positive blood work (tTG and Gliadin Deamidated ABS), but had a negative biopsy? I went in for an endoscopy yesterday and when I woke up, he said everything looked really good and there wasn't any visible damage. Obviously I have to wait for the results in a week or so, but it made me wonder if it was possible that it would come back negative...
  9. I'm going in for an endoscopy and I just wondered what anesthesia is used for the procedure? Anyone have any negative experience? Thanks!
  10. Interesting- better to be sure than to define without being sure!
  11. I've had IGA (normal range), TTG, Gliadin (deamidated) IGG and IGA (all three positive). I'm just wondering if those could be false/picking up on the hashimoto's.
  12. Much of the literature I've read says the positive blood work can be less reliable when done on someone with an existing autoimmune disease (hashimoto's/graves, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.). I know the endoscopy is still the "gold standard", but I wondered if anyone had positive blood work, only to be ultimately negative as a result of another...
  13. So, maybe i'm confused about the blood test results, but i thought a positive TTG-IGA meant Celiac- damage done unknown until endoscopy, but definitely Celiac.... Is it only because she's so young and children are still changing (like allergies at a young age that subside as they get older) that 2 doctors are not interpreting the results that way? So you...
  14. One of the first changes I noticed was not actually abdominal symptoms, but a sudden development of migraines (with aura- can be frightening to suddenly lose your vision while driving). I had no idea what was happening or why. They did an MRI to rule out MS- no dye, no MS. Good luck!!
  15. I really appreciate you answer regarding NCGI. I'm a stubborn one- you should have seen the look on the GI's face when I was trying to negotiate some gluten into my diet if it did turn out to be Celiac. I had heard you really adjust and don't miss it (much like giving up fast food- which I did years ago and just don't miss one bit), but it's getting over...
  16. Thank you so much! I will definitely check it out and I am a big note taker! Do people who have an intolerance, but not Celiac, have elevated numbers as well? Sorry for all the questions. I'll stop now and read.
  17. Pinterest, here I come!! I will definitely ask for those tests, too. Is bone density a blood test? They did do my B12 (at my behest because of lack of energy), but it was in the "normal" range so she said I didn't need any supplement on that one (315 - NORMAL..................... 180 - 914 pg/mL). Thank you again!! It's funny- We did 23 and...
  18. Well- that's a bummer! I eat gluten like every 3 minutes. Yeah I'm bloated and uncomfortable- but it's like being overweight and eating cake anyway, totally worth it!! I don't want to risk future health though. Got 3 beautiful babies! I guess the positive is that I might not be so tired all of the time. I really did just think I am the laziest person on Earth...
  19. Hey all! First time poster, here. I'm 33 years old. I've had Hashimoto''s since the birth of my first, of 3, kiddos when I was 23. It hasn't ever been well controlled, but has been pretty out of control since the birth of my last child (3.5 years ago). I started getting migraines with aura (I really never believed in a migraine until I had one- true believer...
