  1. Thank you Ravenwoodglass. I'll do that. I think it was done at the hospital since the bill came from them. I called the hospital and they told me they forwarded it to my insurance and are waiting on them to reply so I'll wait and see what happens. Maybe I woun't have to pay all of it. Thanks, Carol
  2. Kim ... I think I'll go get my lab results and ask if we can convine both appointments. I can read what the results say and try to make some sense of it. I have tried doing that in the past. I think though, they wanted to see me soon ... I hope is nothing really bad So, in general insurances don't cover Celiac testing / urgent care? I thought it...
  3. Hello Kim. I'm not sure. I talked to the nurse and I hope she conveyed the information. I get the impression that the nurse doesn't want to get involved Thanks ... I might go see her. I have another appointment on the 20th to get my second Hepatitis B shot for school. Carol _____________________________________________ Hello...
  4. Hello all. I got the bill for my blood work on Friday and they are charging me $899.00 My insurance will not cover it b/c where I work they offer a very weird insurance where they give you a certain amount of $ (no much) and then is up to you to pay until you meet a deductible. Anyway, it will be out-of-pocket. I didn't know the blood work would...
  5. Hello CMCM. Thanks for te encouragement. It is good to know that we can eventually (like your mom) live long and normal lives. I'm hoping I can get into PA school but if I can't I will consider being a nurse and I will try helping as much that way. It is very hard to get in and yesterday I went to their orientation but it requires so so much...
  6. Hello Mommy2ky, Hope you are feeling better today. I agree, you should talk to your OB/GYN. All pregancies are different. Your pregnancy is still very recent so I don't recommend making dietary changes that will affect your system. If being gluten free makes you feel better then don't eat gluten. If eating gluten makes you sick it can also remove...
  7. Very interesting. Thanks.
  8. Hello Jody. Welcome to the forum. I'm Carol. I'm also new here. My celiac blood work came back + last Wednesday. I found it interesting that you said you had yeast in your mouth. You could have Candida Albican, which is yeast over growth in your body and it can cause the same symptoms celiac does. I was diagnosed with Candida Albican about...
  9. Thank you Elonwy. That is good to know. I think I'm going to have to start calling. If you can give me the list you have it would be great. Thanks again, Carol
  10. Loraleena, I just opened a post on Candida Albican (yeast overgrowth). About a year ago I was told I had this and I have been on a yeast free / low carb diet and feeling well, untill almost 3 weeks ago when I had italian food. My celiac disease test came back positive this week and so I'm now on this forum trying to learn all about celiac disease. My post...
  11. Hello all. I was reading that Candida Albican might be related with celiac disease. As I mentioned in my first post, I was diagnosed with Candida Albican about a year ago and I'm currently on a yeast free / low carb diet. Last week I went to see my internist and for the first time I was tested for celiac disease and my blood work came back positive...
  12. Thank you Patti. I did replace my kitchen utensils after going on the yeast free / low carb diet. The weird thing is that I've been trying for two days now to stay away from gluten and my stomach just feels worst. I've been feeling bloated where before I was feeling tired, dizzie and with brain fog. I had been feeling just fine up to about...
  13. Hello Ursula, TCA and Rusla. Thank you for the welcome and the tips. The day I got the call from the nurse I was teasing my husband telling him that he couldn't kiss me anymore b/c he had eaten gluten. At the moment I was just teasing and then I thought about what I was saying and I realized it was probably something to really consider My husband...
  14. Hello Rachel. Thanks for the reply. Well, I don't know about the biopsy. Why would I need a biopsy? Is it necessary to get better? I have already started the diet about a year ago since I was diagnosed with yeast allergies so I have been avoiding foods that contain yeast, which some also contain gluten. I will ask her what tests she ran. ...
  15. Hello all. As I mentioned yesterday in an other post, I will have an appointment with my internist to talk about my blood work coming back + for Celiac. Can you please help me make a list of the things I need to ask her? At this point I don't even know what tests she made, all I know is that she did the blood test. Also, when the nurse call...
  16. Hello Rose. I'm new to the forum and feeling a little bit confused myself but I hope you feel better soon. Becareful with the antibiotics, they kill the good bacteria in our intestines and when the good bacteria dies it leaves room for yeast to grow. Acidophilus is a good recommendation to avoid that. Carol
  17. Wow!!! Thank you all (Donna, Patti, Chelsea, Dessa, Elonwy, Mart, Laura) for the big welcome. It feels good to know I can count on a support group. Thank you!! I'm feeling a little bit better today though I'm still very tired but I think it has to do with me not sleeping as much as I needed last night. I also did not feel very happy this morning...
  18. Any more information about Birmingham Al?
  19. Hello, I'm Carol. I'm new to the forum. I have been tested for Lupus and it is not something that is easily diagnosed. A rheumatologist could perform the necessary test such as ANA and others. Talk to your doctor. It can also be yeast. Some people are allergic to yeast and they develop sking rashes after a while. I'm on a yeast free diet at the...
  20. Thank you Donna. I guess feeling sick right now doesn't help me cope with this as well as I should. Hopefully all is well with my intestines and organs. I'm afraid I've had this for a long time and my body has suffered a lot from it. I have to say that I do eat oatmeal every morning. Should I not? I love it though. I posted but I don't...
  21. I placed a post under Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms but I can't find it. Any ideas? Carol
  22. Hello all. My name is Carol. I've been reading you for about an hour. About an hour and a half ago my doctor's nurse called me to let me know that my ANA test came back negative (second time in a row after it being positive for a while) but that the celiac test came back positive. This was the first time a had a Celiac test (blood test) done that...
