  1. Thanks for the info-we have been trying the foil under the bread in the toaster over, but have decided that, since 2 of our 3 kids are on the gluten-free diet, maybe we would try all going gluten free (at home anyway). It definitely makes it easier not having to stress over cross-contamination. We'll see how it goes--I think it's going to be a rough road...
  2. Hi there. My 12 yr. old son just had his biopsy on Thursday (still 2-4 weeks for results). The GI doctor who did the scope said that we may as well get started on the diet since his blood values were so high. So, I have been shopping and researching (the usual) to get everything in place. One of my questions is, do you really have to use a different toaster...
  3. Greetings! I posted this earlier, but it ended up getting lost in the abyss somehow (or I don't know what I'm doing, which is more likely the answer!) Anyhow, it went something like this.... My 12 year old son's blood test results were, I'm told, very high (102). I don't exactly know, and didn't know to ask, exactly what the actual type of test it was...
  4. I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on my situation. My son (12) tested positive on his blood test (very high-102), and we are going for his biopsy on Tuesday. My 18 month daughter old tested negative on her blood test, but she appears to have more symptoms. I just spoke to her pediatrician and she said that her IgA was .21 which and doesn't seem...
  5. Wow, I find that very interesting that both of your kids were tested and the tests came back negative. I just got the results of my 18 month olds blood test, and it too was negative. I'm still convinced that she has it, and to find out that the test results are often inaccurate with kids under 5 makes my resolve all that much stronger. I'm definitely going...
  6. Thanks for the insight. I have to say, I have really struggled over what to do or not do in regard to testing. As for the biopsy--it's already scheduled and the flight is booked for a week and a half from now at Children's Hospital in Vancouver. I think that I need to for peace of mind. For one, he seems to have so little in the way of symptoms, and if...
  7. Thanks for the welcome--I have a feeling, after reading some of the other posts, that I'm going to get some of the best info and advice that I have received so far. So, we are pretty sure that my oldest child has celiac (which will most likely be confirmed when we go for the biopsy), my baby has the rash (I'm almost positive it is DH, no matter what my doctor...
  8. Greetings! I just stumbled upon this site, and I'm thrilled. I have 3 kids, and it would appear that 2 of them have celiac. My son (12) had the blood test done, and his reading was very high. He and I will be flying to Childrens' H for his biopsy at the end of the month. My daughter is only 18 months old, and we suspect she may have it too. She has...
