  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. A year and a half ago, a doctor put me on the gluten free diet even though my blood test results were negative due to failure to absorb certain vitamins. I've skeptically followed the diet, mostly because I have a mom who insisted and who also eats gluten free (I'm 17). I've been skeptical that I've really had celiac because I've had no gastrointestinal problems...
  3. Hi everyone, I have been following the gluten free diet for 8 months or so, but I don't really know if I have celiac disease. I got put on the diet by a doctor who I went to because I had lost my menstrual cycle and also had thyroid disease symptoms. She tested my vitamin levels and found that I was profoundly decifient in some vitamins. Some of these vitamins...
  4. I'm not in college yet, but here are some ideas of foood that you can buy pretty much anywhere and can turn into meals... Instant rice cans of soup nuts sunflower seeds dried fruit cans of beans (bring a strainer) gluten-free cereal rice cakes nut butters cheeses corn tacos (put some veggies from the cafeteria on with your...
  5. Dear Chloe, I can so sympathize with you as I am a celiac braceface also. Luckilly I had braces over a year before being diagnosed with celiac disease, so it wasn't a huge diet change (although it was pretty big). I remember when I first got braces, it helped alot to cut food into very small bites. I could eat mostly anything but it just took a little longer...
  6. Ok... I am a vegetarian with celiac and my family is planning a month vacation traveling across the country. Yes, I'm very excited, but am also wondering what in the world I will be able to eat. We will pack coolers with food for breakfast and lunch (we won't have cooking equiptment unless we stay at a hotel w/ a microwave) and go out to dinner. Have any...
  7. I am a gluten free vegetarian, so I know that it's hard, but it can be done. There is alot more out there to eat for gluten free vegs than it would seem. For breakfast there is cereal with or without milk or soy milk (my favorite gluten-free cereal is puffins). You can toss it with dried fruit or nuts. Lunches, you can make a sandwich with gluten-free bread...
  8. It's interesting... my mom told me yesterday that she read an article on celiac which said that the results for the bloodtests are inaccurate 90% of the time! I don't know if this study was wrong but still, it's something to think about.
  9. Hi, I'm 16 and was just told that I was celiac a few weeks ago. My mom is also celiac which made it much easier to cut our gluten. One thing though, is it seems as if my weight is increasing, almost uncontrolably, in these past few weeks. I've always been very thin and I even lost some weight this year. It was always difficult to gain and keep on weight...
