  1. heh. i am too lazy/too busy to make my own bread on a regular basis...lol. Oh well i guess i'll keep looking. It would also be nice to find a bread that is made from WHOLE grains, ie: brown rice. I'm trying to start eating healthier!
  2. I like the Images organic soups that come premade in a boxed carton. The tomato is decent. I wasn't crazy about it at first because i was comparing it to Campbells, but it's actually not bad. It's pretty healthy too!
  3. Has anyone found bread that is gluten free AND tapioca free? Most of the gluten-free products i eat contain tapioca but I can only tolerate tapioca in small to moderate amounts. Thanks! Elaine
  4. Same here, i just figured out that i can't eat tapioca. (which i've discoverd is not all that uncommon.) I had the same unexplained "icky" feeling after eating kinnikinnick bread. i still eat it occasionally though. it doesn't make me feel that sick, it just doesn't sit well.
  5. thanks for the answers everyone! I think i'll talk to him about getting tested sometime in the near future.
  6. do you know the name of this conference? (so i can google it.)
  7. From my personal observations, it seems that the gene for celiac/gluten intol. is passed on from parent to child more often than not. Has anyone read any studies on the chances of passing down the gene? I am curious because I don't know if I should ask my brother to get tested. I was never tested, but my health has improved greatly since going gluten...
  8. I was looking at panera bread's ingredients online to see if any of their soups and salads are safe and autolyzed yeast was listed a few times. anyone know? thanks!
  9. Yes, i am, someday. Is that selfish? I think people with both diabetes and celiac are still able to enjoy life. just a guess.
  10. It can be really hard sometimes, but you'll get through it! when i start feeling down, i remind myself of how lucky i am to KNOW that i have a gluten problem, unlike 97% of celiacs. we're lucky that our disease is 100% treatable, and since yours was caught early, you're probably in good shape we're also lucky to have so many gluten-free options that didn...
  11. I ate at applebees a couple weeks ago and had just as much luck. my waitress was nice and wanted to accomidate me, but had no knowledge of gluten. "so is that like sugar??" ugh. so i ordered a salad (don't remember which one) without dressing but still felt icky afterwards. it did have CHICKEN on it, i bet that's what did it. I won't be going back.
  12. yup, i have the same story as everyone here. i've had bad acne since age 12. the gluten-free diet really helped clear it up (not perfectly though.) Too bad i didn't go gluten-free earlier, cause I still have all these scars
  13. ha, that same sort of thing has crossed my mind. i'm also 19 and have been with my boyfriend for almost a year now, and we know we will get married after college. the thing is, he has type 1 diabetes and i have celiac (or gluten intolerence...whatever i don't really see a difference.) So, our kids are basically doomed! plus they've found there is some sort...
  14. hello wisconsin friends! i was shocked when i did a search on here to find that no one knows about MOLLY'S GLUTEN FREE BAKERY! well actually it's in a weird location and fairly new so i guess it's not that surprising...It's in PEWAUKEE and might be more convienent for some of you instead of driving to Silly Yak in Madison. they have everything you...
