ARCHIVED Prednisone As Treatment?
pturse replied to pturse's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you again for your suggestions. I had a terrible GI Dr. before the one I currently have. He was the one who had me do a colonoscopy and endoscopy . . . he said the results came back negative for the Crohns and such but now we are having a terrible time getting the medical records from him so that my current (and good) GI can see the test and the... -
ARCHIVED Prednisone As Treatment?
pturse replied to pturse's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you for everyone's responses & advice. My doctor said that every celiac sufferer SHOULD feel better after being on the diet almost immediatly (as in 3 week or so). If they don't, that is an indication that something else is wrong or like many of you said, there may be other "allergies" involved. I still have the abdominal cramping. I... -

ARCHIVED Prednisone As Treatment?
pturse replied to pturse's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No, I have been following the diet since January and have been watching the contamination however, there is always a "chance" what I thought was, wasn't. But after being on the diet last year for 6 months as well, I did not feel ANY better whatsoever. It has been more then a year since my last biopsy, my recent GI said that my blood test levels for celiac... -
ARCHIVED Prednisone As Treatment?
pturse posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My GI recently told me that my villi damage is really bad. He gave me a few options one of which is following a super strict diet for the next four weeks followed by another endoscopy/colonoscopy. He said if the diet is not working, as I have been on it since January, that I may have a severe form of Celiac where I am not responsive to the gluten-free... -
There is also one in Sacramento California. For Celiacs and friends.

ARCHIVED Different Reactions To Different Glutens?
pturse replied to SharonF's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are 2 gluten-free Luna Bars that the company told me about. They are Peppermint Stick and Chocolate Covered Cherry. They do have some oats so if oats bother you then I would be careful. The Luna Glow bars however are gluten-free according the company. They just don't taste as good in my opinion. My GI told me that it is not possible to ingest... -
I would think that a name brand hotel like The Hilton would be okay though with their water . . . I guess I will just ask to be sure.

I am leaving next week on my honeymoon to Los Cabos. Any suggestions on what to eat and what to stay away from? I have a pretty sensitive stomach and having Celiac makes it only worse. We're staying in a decent hotel so the water should be safe but any other things I should look out for?

ARCHIVED Gastroenteritis, Eosinophilic
pturse replied to pturse's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just adding to information I found on this website: Immune System Cells May Trigger Food Allergies and Gastrointestinal Inflammation Copyright -
Does anyone have this? I received my blood test results back and everything was perfect except for my eosinophil count. The norm is supposed to be between 1 & 5% . . . I had 26%. Eosinophil also relates to asthma and allergies (both of which I think I might have) but there is something called Gastroenteritis Eosinophilic which is when the eosinophils...

ARCHIVED Stomache Bloating/gas Daily
pturse replied to campcour's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am going through the exact same thing. gluten-free for 8 months. In the morning after I have BM I feel great and my stomach is flat but as soon as I eat the smallest amount of food I get bloated and gassy no matter what I eat. -
ARCHIVED Wheatgrass?
pturse replied to pturse's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link I found this saying otherwise . . . -
This may seem like a silly question but can Celiacs drink Wheatgrass?
-
Does any one know if there is a way to relieve the abdominal cramping after an ingestion of gluten (after being gluten-free for 9 months)??? The pain, bloating and just discomfort is terrible!

Another disappointing note about Panda Express is that their "vegetarian" meal which is supposed to be just veggies, is covered and cooked in chicken stock! I was mortified. How can they claim "vegetarian" and do that? I only eat the rice at Panda Express and that is only if we can't find another place to eat that is better.

ARCHIVED How Much Would You Pay For A Pill?
pturse replied to asdfgh's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I don't take any pills other than vitamins but if there was a celiac pill, i'd take it probably every day. Not sure how much I'd be willing to shell out for it but I am italian and grew up italian my entire life . . . if there were no other side effects from the pill, I'd have more than one a day! -
ARCHIVED Anyone Not Super Careful About Cross Contamination
pturse replied to MichelleC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well I don't any reaction from drinking Amstel and I know a few other Celiacs that do it too w/o a reaction. To each his own I guess. I believe the company and I believe my body. I watch what I eat and I pick my own battles. For the most part, since I stopped being so extremely careful . . . I've felt 90% better than before the diet and even after I started... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Not Super Careful About Cross Contamination
pturse replied to MichelleC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am not that careful either. I have been gluten free for about a year. I still have some ups and downs but I don't always attribute it to gluten. I share a toaster oven and I even sometimes use the same peanut butter. I even eat oats and don't feel bad . . . I know I know I could be doing damage but until the tests come back bad, I am going to enjoy what... -
Sunflower, You were a help. Thank you. Question, does the patch have any other side effects like weight gain or mood swings? What I like about Depo is that there is no estrogen in it. I know the other side effects probably out weigh that but the estrogen levels in the other pills really affected my body and my moods. I don't like the fact...

I have been diagnosed as celiac for 2 years and living solidly on the diet for about 8-9 months now. In the past, before I was diagnosed, my OBGYN prescribed b-control pills and all of them (and I tried many brands) caused terrible terrible stomach upset. Some of them even forced me to stay home from work days on end. Consequently, I have vowed them...

I have been gluten free for about 8 months now (the second time around). And I haven't been feeling any better. I have switched insurances and have been considering going back to the GI to see what was up. Some how I think it's more than just Celiac which is hard enough. Before I left my old provider though I had my chart copied. I was just reading...

ARCHIVED Beer Drinking
pturse replied to faithladene's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Just adding to my previous post . . . I went to the Heineken website to research and they said they use "malted barely" and I thought, "that contradicts what the woman emailed me" so I researched further and this is how they "get rid of" the malt in the malted barely: Can you tell me more about how beer is made? Brewing beer is a 100% natural process... -

Hi all, I recently read somewhere on one of these message boards about Amstel beer possibly being gluten free . . . so I decided to email the company. This was their response. I'd like some thoughts on the letter . . . Dear P: Thank you for your recent email message. Heineken USA has been informed by our parent company, Heineken NV, that our beer... -
