  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  3. We certainly welcome ppl from the Southshore but there is already a group in Metairie who might better serve you. There is also one in Baton Rouge according to the csa website. If you wish to join us, you are more than welcome and are certainly not required to attend every meeting. Meetings will be about once every 4-6 weeks as members see fit. Most meetings...
  4. Hello all! I'm looking for people in the North Shore area of SouthEastern Louisiana. The following parishes are welcome: St. Tammany (where meetings will mostly be held), Tangiphoa, Washington, Livingston, Pearl River County, MS and other surrounding parishes of Louisiana and MS. Most meetings will be held in St. Tammany as that is where all current members...
  5. Hi there. Good for you for being active in your child's health. He certainly sounds like he has all the symptoms of celiac disease. If you want to go gluten-free that is indeed your choice and if he improves on the diet, then all signs sure point to celiac disease. But please remember, without actual medical diagnosis (and sometimes genetic testing is not...
  6. I agree with that post! I too have a good friend who's a registered dietician and she stresses good nutrition in natural foods and plenty fo water. She herself is due to have a baby in august but is not celiac disease. SHe even had to come to me for info on celiac disease bc it is so unknown even in the nutritionist and medical world. I suggest you eat as...
  7. I have heard from a fellow celiac disease that when she accidently gets Gluten she takes alka seltzer. None of that worked for me. My OB said immodium was fine for preg, check with yoru doc first of course. Most will tell u over phone. I cheated a lot too on my diet when preg but i am now strictly gluten-free bc I know how serious it is now. It can affect...
  8. GIrl more power to you! I had a rough time nursing my son, finally gave up at five months but I think it was a combo my body didnt make enough (Bc i was cheating on diet, I'll never know til I have another baby! Maybe!) But I tried and tried and he latched fine, he just gave up real fast and it seemed like ti didtn come out right. I didnt see if anyone suggested...
  9. I am very sure similac is also gluten free. Most formulas do not contain gluten bc they realize that is a common allergen for babies and it is not reccommended they get wheat before four months anyway so why would they put it in formula? (although nothing would surprise me these days!) However, do be careful when it comes time for solids. Lots of rice cereals...
  10. This is definitely a touchy topic I see! But since everyone else is, lemme put in my two cents! I have gotten different answers on all this! I've been reading two VERY recent books out now. One called "Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic" By Dr Peter Green, a leading doc on celiac disease. And also "Gluten Free for Dummies' by Danna Korn I believe her name...
  11. I was unable to conceive for five months until diagnosed with celiac disease and then within one month of being gluten-free, we conceived. I hope we will have it easier when we try again bc I am being very strict on my gluten-free diet now! (after much cheating, denial and mistakes!) amy
  12. Hi I hope you are still reading this forum, I just joined, Im also on several Yahoo groups for celiac, becoming more and more surprised how many of us there are out there! I was diagnosed with Celiac in November 2004. In December 2004 we conceived our first child after five months of trying. Five months and ONE MONTH gluten-free helped us conceive. Now I...
