ARCHIVED Snacks For 1 Year Old Ds
genicol replied to owensmama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter loves the peanut butter envirokidz crispy rice bars. She doesn't like the chocolate one though. These are pretty good sized, so I'll give her 1/4 of one and some grapes, strawberries or other fruit and she loves it. I also will give her dry envirokidz cereal, and like already mentioned, the Gerber freeze dried fruits are simple and not too... -
ARCHIVED Should Fiance Be Tested?
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
UPDATE - He had his blood test on Monday the 10th. We are still waiting for the results. He did hear from his doctor on Friday and got the news that his thyroid was so low that he should be dead or at least in the hospital. That made us feel great...lol! I told him that he needs to call today to see if they have gotten any other results back. By the... -
ARCHIVED Ds Has Been Diagnosed With Celiac.....
genicol replied to wolfie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi. I am faced with a similar problem, but my daughter is only 20 months old! She has been gluten free for 2 weeks now, and I am running out of ideas on what to feed her. I had posted a question earlier, and I got a list of food ideas from someone. If you look through the forum (I think it's on page 2) for my post "food ideas for 20 month old" you can... -
ARCHIVED Getting Run Around With Gastro
genicol replied to averyannsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm sorry to hear this...but I know how you feel. My daughter's dr. did the same exact thing when she was almost 1. I took her b/c she had d for so long, and all he did was say take her home and put her on the B.R.A.T. diet. Little did I know that she couldn't tolerate the toast! Needless to say, the diet didn't help her, just made her worse. She wasn... -
Is it common for toddler's sleep to increase after being gluten free? Carrigan used to sleep around 12 hours at night and take a 1 1/2 to 2 hour nap during the day. Now she sleeps around 14 hours a night and has been taking about a 3 - 4 hour nap a day. I know that you grow when you sleep and she hasn't done much of that in her little life, so I'm hoping...

ARCHIVED Should Fiance Be Tested?
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
No...I have not been tested. I haven't ever had any problems, and can tolerate gluten fine. I strongly believe that it is all on his side of the family. To be honest, I never even heard of Celiac until I got the call to schedule the endoscopic biopsy for our daughter! I'm very thankful that they caught it early for her! -
ARCHIVED Should Fiance Be Tested?
genicol posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi. I'm venturing to a new forum and have a question. My fiance and I have a 20 month old daughter that was diagnosed with celiac last Thursday. I strongly believe that he has it too, but his dr. isn't cooperating with us. I scheduled an appt for him, but when he got there they said they were really overbooked and rescheduled his appt. The worst part... -
ARCHIVED Food Ideas For 20 Month Old
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you all so much. We are doing our best to get her to try new things, but we are having a really hard time. She is doing a little better, but I'm getting really tired of making mashed or baked potatos! LOL Thanks again! -
ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you for all of the info. We saw the nutritionist at Children's yesterday. Her name is Mary Kay Sharrette, and she overwhelmed me with a lot of valuable information! I haven't been to the RR yet, but we are going tomorrow! I wanted to ask you if you go to any of the Gluten Free Gang's meetigs and conferences at Children's. If you do or have... -
ARCHIVED Food Ideas For 20 Month Old
genicol posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hey...can anyone offer any suggestions on new foods for Carrigan. She is a picky eater, but that's not a completely bad thing. She doesn't like normal kid foods such as nuggets or mac & cheese (yeah!!), but she's been gluten free for a week, and I'm really struggling on what to feed her! She likes fresh fruit and some veggies, but too many of them... -
Hi meeshyo! Thanks for asking about Carrigan! I don't know what to tell you about it taking so long. Everything with us went very quickly. The only reason we had any delay in scheduling the endoscopy was b/c the dr was going to be on vacation for 2 weeks. He wanted the appt to be scheduled b/4 he left and we got in right after he got back. She did...

ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm very close to Columbus. I live in Marysville. I'm not exactly sure where the RR is though. I was told by a guy working at Whole Foods to go there. There used to be one years ago at New Market Mall in Dublin, but I don't think that it is still there. If you could tell me where it is located, I would greatly appreciate it!! The only reason we went... -
ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes. About 20 minutes from here is a organic store called Whole Foods Market. We went there yesterday, and we were given a brochure that listed all of their gluten free items. So far she likes almost everything. Not too keen on the rice mac & cheese, but it's all trial and error for now. At our local Kroger they have an organic section, and have... -
ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The results are in. The dr. called me today and the biopsies were positive. I knew that was going to be the outcome, but just hearing it was hard. Anyways, Carrigan has been completely gluten free for 2 days now, and we are all on our way to having a healthier and happier toddler! Our next step is the celiac nutritionist, and a follow-up at the... -
ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well here's the update. Carrigan had the endoscopy this morning. It was the most horrible thing I have ever had to have my child go through!!! Quick summary....idiot nurse couldn't get the IV in. Two tries in right hand with the result of busting her vein. Moved to the left hand and used smaller needle. The whole time she is completely wrapped tight... -
ARCHIVED Celiac, Chrone's, Ulcerative Ibs
genicol posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Is there any link between Celiac, Chrone's and Irritable Bowel? My daughter's grandma (dad's side) has Chrone's and had a colostomy about 2 1/2 years ago. Her uncle (again...dad's side) has ulcerative colitis. Both grandma and uncle also have irritable bowel. After reading everything that I have so far, I am completely convinced that my fiance has celiac... -
ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm not sure about the tTg. Actually, I don't even know what that is. It all has been so strange how everything has happened. I actually took her to the dr. thinking that she was showing signs of hyperactivity, and that was what I was thinkng was keeping her from gaining weight. She is always on the move. Her pediatrician wanted her to be checked by... -
ARCHIVED Mom Of Celiac
genicol replied to genicol's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for the tips. French fries are a very common food for her, but I feel bad giving her fries all the time. She also likes baked and mashed potatoes. I haven't tried rice crackers simply because I didn't know that there was such a thing. Like I said, this is new, and we aren't 100% positive, but we will know after tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on... -
Hi all. My name is Gail, and I am a mom of a 20 month old daughter who possibly has Celiac Disease. She had a blood test show up positive and we go in the morning for an upper endoscopy. I feel like I'm going crazy! Since I received the blood results, I've been trying extremely hard to watch what she eats, and I am seeing some improvement, but feeding...
