Hmmm. He's been off of dairy for at least 6 months. That's why the dr. wanted to try him on it again. His food choices are so limited and he's seeing an OT for oral aversion. We were hoping that by allowing some dairy it would open up more food choices. I don't like tinkering and experimenting on him, but it seems like it's my only choice right now. ... -

Thanks ladies. I definitely am going to keep him on the diet. He is 2 years old. I know that he also has peanut and egg allergies. Dairy I can't figure out, he seems to handle small amounts, but too much makes the eczema flare and sometimes makes him constipated. He has been off soy for a year also, but I recently started to allow the soybean oil. ... -

I just found out this morning that DS has fallen off the growth chart. Two weeks ago the GI said Celiac is not likely based on the genetic testing we did. However, he is responding very well to a gluten-free diet. I am keeping him on the diet because he is definitely showing me signs that he feels better. We are going to see an immunologist next week.... -
I didn't know there was anything on the planet more stubborn than a 2YO! He's had the rash for about 2 weks. I called the dr. today and the nurrse told me to treat it like yeast since it is under his diaper. If it's still there on Monday they want to see him. It doesn't sound like most doctors are able to diagnose this though. The pics on that site...

My son has eczema, but it's always been on his feet and the back of his knees. He has a new rash on lower back. It looks to me lie it is a little different than the eczema, but similar. Does DH resemble eczema at all? Thanks.

There's not much of a doubt in my mind either. I'm just waiting to hear from the GI to see if I need to take him off the gluten now or wait until our appt. July 20th. I tried it for a few days and really liked what I was seeing, but then I got nervous that I'd mess up the results if we do further testing. The dr. would have to give me a very strong argument... -

I just picked up a copy of DS's (22 months) bloodwork. From what I understand his IgA was 6.3 and his IgG is a 30.5 on a range of 0 - 24.9. So the IgG level is high, but the IgA level is OK. THere is another spot on the report listing TTG @ 0.1 and anything less than 5.0 is negative. So, what does all of this mean? Anything? Thanks in advance for... -

That's weird. Do different labs have different scales? I was told 0-24.9 is normal for the IgA (or was it IgG?) and his was a 31. Why would yours be 0-10? I wish I had a copy of the report right now. -

Thanks for the input. When you said the testing is unreliable in children under 5, do you mean the biopsy or the bloodwork? Also, since a false + in nearly impossible do you think the one that was within normal limits could really be a +? Would retesting likely yield different results? I'm not afraid of going gluten free.
