  1. Hi! So here's the deal. I (the mom) am celiac. My daughter was tested through Enterolab and the test came back positive. I then had a blood test done through my doctor which came back negative. There is a new at home test available in Canada called the Biocard. We did the test today and it showed negative. She doesn't have many symptoms so I don't know what...
  2. Hi everyone, So I've been off gluten for a year. Always had atypical symtpoms and am still waiting for my appointment with specialist. Anyhow this summer I've been glutened by accident and my reactions seem to be getting worse. For the past two days I've had weird stomach aches (as though I've been punched), and very bad pains in my lower back. I've also...
  3. O.K. here's the deal. I'm celiac and am concerned about my daughter. She had the enterolab stool test done and it came back positive. We're in Canada so the enterolab test doesn't count for anything. She had the blood work done and it came back negative. However it did show that her immunoglobulin is low. Does this mean anything? Anyone know? Thanks, Alison
  4. O.K. probably another stupid question but I'm still just not getting it! Since I'm still waiting to see a GI (14 mth wait) I can't ask anyone else. Everyone on this board has been so helpful. Sorry though for another question. If someone is gluten sensitive and does NOT stay off of gluten, could they potentially become celiac due to damage being done to...
  5. I'm wondering if any of you Canadians (esp. in Ontario) have taken their Enterolab tests to either their family physician or G.I. and if so what sort of response they received. I have results (positive) for both my daughter and myself and I'm worried that these doctors are going to think I'm crazy! Thanks Alison
  6. Hi everyone! I (the mom) tested postive for gluten sensitivity through enterolab. I had the celiac blood test (Canadian) done for my daughter through our Doctor and her test came back negative. Although it was negative I still went ahead and had the enterolab stool test done. It came back today as positive with a result of 18. My question is; what do I...
  7. Triphasil is fine as well.
  8. Good morning! Does anyone know of any GIs in Ontario that support Enterolab test results? I'm waiting to get in to one and the wait is a year and I'm worried that after such I long wait I'm just going to find out that the doctor doesn't believe in a positive test result from Enterolab. Any experience with this?
  9. Hi there! Another Canadian here! I'm relatively new to the forum so it's nice to see that there are other Canadians who are a part of it. Welcome! Alison - Guelph, ON
  10. Hi everyone! I am newly diagnosed and I'm wondering what to do about my kids. Neither has any symptoms. My daughter who is 21mths is low on the weight chart (3rd percentile) and is speech delayed. Do any of you know if there is a connection between language delay and celiac disease? Alison
  11. Hi everyone! Anyone know how old kids should be before they are tested by Enterolab? Is 20 mths too young? Alison
  12. Hi Suzie, I have a 20mth old daughter who is at the bottom of the growth chart but no other symptoms and a son who doesn't have any symptoms that I know of. Should I have them checked or for symptoms to appear? Thanks for your letter. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by all of this. Grieving all the foods I love but will never be able to eat again!...
  13. Hi! Anyone know where I can buy Cherrybrooke Farms (cake and cookie mixes) in Southern Ontario? Alison
  14. Hi Suzie, I can't get into a GI for at least a year and my blood test was not covered by OHIP but was covered by our insurance company. I decided not to wait for the GI and was tested by Enterolab. It came back positive so I'm glad I had the testing done and didn't wait for the GI. Now I just have to decide what to do about my kids. Thanks for writing...
  15. Good morning everyone! I have probably a stupid question. Is eating meat safe if the animal has been grain fed? Also, anyone know if Coke is gluten-free? Thanks, Alison
