Patio Repairs
I finally, finally got around to repairing my patio. I think I've got pics on this blog of the concrete patio that I painted a couple of years ago. This spring we had to have foundation repairs and the company that did it had to chop four holes in the patio. It was extremely annoying, but even more so because I asked them to be especially careful not to toss their tools around and chip the patio any more than they had to. Well, they totally ignored that plea. They chipped the paint and concrete all over the place.

I've had those repairs looming over my head all summer. I couldn't do it right after 'cause I had to wait a month to let the new concrete cure. Then we had the rainiest spring and summer that we've had since...well, ever. Then because of the rain we had the biggest infestation of mosquitos ever. It's no fun painting outside when I'm hot and sweaty and the mosquitos are swarming. So finally it has cooled down a bit and the mosquitos aren't so fierce and I was able to get out there and repaint the parts that needed it. Then I put a topcoat on and had to let it dry a couple of days. I just finished washing all the patio furniture, cleaning the fountain, and putting everything back in place. Ahhh, it feels so good to be done. And I don't think anyone will be able to tell where the repairs are unless I point them out. Which I won't.
I was deathly sick a couple of nights ago. Don't know if it was gluten or food poisoning, but it was awful. Just when I thought I was going to throw up for sure (and I hate, hate, hate to throw up), laying on the bathroom floor, I remembered that I still had that nausea medication that the ER doc gave me for my kidney stones. I scrounged around and found them and took one. Oh, blessed relief. The nausea went away and I was able to crawl back into bed and go to sleep.
Tomorrow night I'm having a dinner for my son's girlfriend. It's her birthday and I've invited her family to come, too. I haven't met them yet so this will be a first. I had a hard time getting her to tell me what she'd like to eat, but we finally decided on grilling steaks and she especially requested Chebe bread (she loves the stuff) and my Sangria punch. It's always nice to get requests.
