I'm traveling to Exuma which is a small island south of Nassau. Does anyone know about the style of cooking and whether they use corn and rice rather than flour for beading fries foods? Any ideas about the types of foods the restaurants will have available? Thank you in advance!

Hi Allie - did you end up going to Exuma last year? I'm looking at planning a family vacation there and was curious if you found gluten free options. Thanks so much!

For future travelers, I went to Exuma and EVERYTHING is fried.  It is really hard to eat out there without getting a salad every time.  To be honest there isn't a whole lot of fruit on the island either.  I brought my own gluten-free bread, oatmeal and pasta and I'm really glad I did.  Went to one restaurant and ordered the lobster thinking there is no way that would be bad, but it came breaded and deep fried.  The island itself is spectacular, but eating there gluten free is extremely difficult.  Especially because the one thing everyone says you have to try there is deep fried conch.  Loved the island, but pack an extra suitcase for your own food.
