Question About Hla Testing.

Hello,

I was tested in June for tTg antibodies and was positive. According to the labs, anything higher then 8 was positive, I was 19. I had a upper endo biopsy and it was negative.

I had a rough summer. I was diagnosed with SLE(Lupus). I had a positive ANA, high sed rate (106), positive double stranded DNA, low complement levels. Saw a rheumatologist and was put on steroids and immunosuppressants. I am s-l-o-w-l-y getting better.

I am not convinced I don't have celiac as well. I have so many of the symptoms of celiac disease. The bloating, abdominal pain, diarhea alternating with somewhat normal stool, foul smelling stool, headaches, dental enamel defects all are present. I also have what doctors call a "dermatitis" all over my arms, legs and butt. It itches like crazy.

I have seen some articles on people who were diagnosed as having SLE when it was really celiac. I am just wondering if I have both?

I had some HLA testing done by a neurologist. They found me to be HLA B27 positive as well as DRB1(DR4) positive. Isn't DR4 a celiac marker?

Any input would be appreciated.

Did a little research. It looks to be celiac, but don't quote me. Check out these links regarding DR4 and decide for yourself. As for the rash, has anyone mentioned Dermatitis Herpetiformis? Open Original Shared Link

I've only been told it "looks" like dermatitis. I am wondering if it needs to be biopsied?

What tests should I have done other than tTG? I am on an immunosuppresant and 10 mg of prednisone daily. Will that affect my results?

I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?

Yes Bobs redmill cgf oatmeal I started when I became gluten-free. So taking all 3 with breakfast should work? Will I notice any reactions getting used to these or should I be fine. Thanks

Hello, @pilber309, welcome to the forum! Are you currently consuming dairy?   You mentioned something about lots of yogurt and cheese, but did you cut it out or are you eating lots of it?   Could you clarify please? Some people with Celiac react to casein, the protein in dairy the same as to gluten with antibodies and villi damage.
