Did I just “get glutened?”

3 weeks gluten-free...my GI said to eat gluten-free after positive TTG blood work but negative endoscopic biopsy. 

 

We ate out for Mother’s Day at a restaurant that insisted they were safe and sounded great talking about how they’d prevent cross-contamination. I had a salad with shrimp and an entree of scallops. I’m about 2 hours passed the end of the meal and the worst of it was from 0.5 - 1.5 hours after eating...terrible lower abdomen cramping (not productive, no trips to the bathroom), nausea, racing heartbeat (it was like 115 bpm just sitting down). The cramping is getting better with resting and the nausea and racing heart seems to have passed. I’m not going to assume it’s all over but I’m hopeful. Maybe it was the seafood? It was a high quality restaurant. I don’t know. I don’t like not knowing.

Might have, I stopped eating out except at 100% gluten free restaurants for a treat. I do have 2 places I go to that are not gluten free dedicated but I only order 2 menu items, and I have talked to the manager each time and seen how they cook them, (they lay down foil on a conveyor oven and put veggies or fish on top unseasoned and just roast it then dump from the foil sheet to plate and serve)
PS for my mothers day, I invited my mother to my house and fixed her dinner, nice salt and pepper seasoned NY strip medium rare, served with a salad topped in a red wine pomegranate vinegar and lemon pepper with a side of my Grain free cheesy bread I made a large flat bread loaf this time.

      A confirmed diagnosis of refractory coeliac disease is required to participate in the study unfortunately. Apologies you are feeling miserable even though you have remained gluten-free, I hope you are able to receive further understanding as to why from the relevant medical professional. I am hoping to provide copies of the content used in this study following its completion end of this year so will make a note to post on here when the study is complete, a copy of the resources used from the group.

      Do you think it’s a vitamin issue that could make celiac symptoms worse during recovery ?

      Multivitamin products are seldom potent to offset the vitamin and mineral deficiencies that typically result from long term undiagnosed celiac disease. We commonly recommend sublingual B12, a B-complex 5-10k IU of D3, 400 mg daily of magnesium glycinate, and zinc picolinate. The forms of certain vitamins like magnesium and zinc are important since it has a significant impact on absorbability. If you live near a Costco, the Kirkland Signature series and Nature Made lines are good quality choices and economical. And they will indicate on the packaging if they are gluten free.

      I’ve been taking a multivitamin however my doctors appointment is not available till next month for any specific vitamin tests

      Are you addressing possible/probable vitamin and mineral deficiencies through some serious supplementation?
