Believe it or not, I also like that annoying little homeless boy. There was something about him...

He was good...I liked him too, but the fake accent was hilarious!:lol:

I actually didn't watch anything except the very first guy...the one they made turn around to sing.

That guy was so funny :lol::lol:

They actually put him through too! LOL

Hi, I'm new and AI is a guilty pleasure for me too. Need something to keep me distracted from life. I have no musical talent what so ever, unless you count playing the radio. I can do that pretty well. Is is just me, or does who they send through seem random somtimes. Like the homeless boy. He didn't seem like a good singer. At least I have heard better, and that means nothing since I can't hear a tune or pitch or any of that, but still. . . sometimes it seems like they can't either.

Hi Jay

Welcome to the Board!!!

The homeless boy was different but I did like him.

The girl who was dancing all over the place was a little odd, and then she got mad when they asked her if she was faking it.

The rocker was amazing her second song was Traveling Band by CCR.

Hi!

I think the homeless guy was easily mockable, which makes for good television. That's probably why they put him through. LOL

Susie, if you want to see Paula being spacey, watch Hey Paula! Apparently she goes days and days without sleeping. She looks horrible and makes absolutely no sense. Its sad, but hilarious.

Last night was another great show. I really don't remember anyone except for the girl that they made learn the Dolly song. I actually kind of liked her. Her singing left a lot to be desired, but she was sweet. She did sound a lot like Dolly!

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

I missed it last night. I agree the homeless kid is mockable. He just seems to be missing a few maybe.

Paula does seem to get spacier as the days go on. Did you see them making fun of her the other night when she couldnt say the word no?

jayhawk Newbie

Thanks for the welcome! I checked out right after sending that. No one else was online at that moment.

I liked the Dolly sound alike myself. She was sweet, but again, not really as talented as others. I guess they figure that they can weed out the less talented people in Dollywood, or Hollywood or whatever.

Can't wait for tomorrow's show!

I always miss the Weds show since we watch wife swap.

Ya know what?....I liked him last night. I thought his first song was good....he's kind of growing on me....

I liked the girl who preached about safe sex and abstaining, but she got cut last night. I thought she was cute.

I liked the girl who sung Amazing Grace

I did not like the pagent queen girl at all....she annoyed me!

Guhlia Rising Star

So far I like Josiah (the homeless kid), the rockin' nurse, the girl tattoo shop owner (the one whose arm is completely tattoo'd), and the 16 year old boy that suffered from vocal paralysis a few months ago. I also really like the cute farmer kid, but I don't know if he's even there anymore. They didn't show him. There were a few others we liked, but I can't remember who. I think Josiah's going to fall apart if he makes it to the top 24. He's an emotional basketcase.

I was SO glad that the Lampkins didn't make it any further!!! Jeffrey was really starting to get on my nerves! I didn't like the pageant queen girl either.

Personally,

My favorites from previous AI seasons are Kelly, Clay, Carrie, and Josh Greyson (country singer-I think that's his name)...he was the military guy with a new baby who challenged Simon to do push-ups on stage from season 1.

The person I think got screwed by voters was Tamiarah (sp?) from season 1 (I think).

The guy dressed in feathers at this year's auditions had me cracking up. I just love watching the auditions. Makes me feel more normal ;)

So far, my favorite is the 18 yr. old kid with brown hair...he's got a gorgeous voice, and he seems very polite.

Well, that's my life. Taking care of my son, cleaning the house, and getting a good laugh from the AI auditions. Kind of sad... well, everything but my baby. He's my joy.

Where is everyone??

Now that it is down to 24 people, I'll start watching AI. :D I watched the guys last night. I liked a few of them. Some them I really didn't care for (like the Ellen DeGeneres look-alike).

Um, what's up with Paula's puffy face?

I'm going to try to watch tonight, but I'm leaving town in the morning so I'm not sure if I will be able to.

That Danny kid that sang Elvis's Jail House rocked bothers me....he is a bit stuck on himself. I didn't care for Colton either. Where is the kid who lived in his car...I started watching and missed the first few.

The homeless kid didn't make the top 24. I really liked that 17-year-old. Was his name David? The guy with the dread locks who played guitar was good too. I don't really remember anyone else.

HAK1031 Enthusiast

he left...nice kid, but I didn't think his voice was all that great to be honest :(

Guhlia Rising Star

The guys are really strong this year!!! Last year most of the guys didn't even deserve to be there. This year its the opposite, they're mostly all awesome with only a few exceptions. So how do you think the girls will do tonight? I hope they're even half as good as the guys. Thus far my guy favorites are the Davids, Jason Castro, and Michael Johns. I hope they all make it to the top 12. :) I can't wait to hear the girls tonight!!!

dlp252 Apprentice

I only watched the first hour last night, so didn't get to see much, lol. Will probably do the same tonight.

I think they have some really strong contenders in both women and men this year...kind of exciting, lol.

Oh wait, I take it back! :P I really liked the Aussie guy too. I think he sang last.

Green12 Enthusiast

Now that it has been narrowed down, I'm gonna start watching, like you Cheri

I tivoed it and haven't had a chance to watch it yet, it's hard to keep up with when it is on 3 nights a week

What do you guys all think about the questions being raised that some of the contestants aren't ameteurs??

Green12 Enthusiast

Tivo is an amazing thing, it only took me about 20 minutes to watch all of the performances

That means there is about an hour and forty minutes of commercials and filler in the 2 hr show :lol:

Love him!! Michael Johns, I think he is my favorite so far :D

These are the ones who stood out for me:

Michael Johns

Jason Castro

David Archuleta

I felt so bad for that kid with the long hair, Garrett Haley, Simon was totally cruel. He should just stick to critiquing the performance and the music/song, not personal appearance.

I wish i would of seen the guys and the stuff simon was saying to garrett.

The kid is from colorado and i want him to keep going lol even tho i havent heard him sing yet lol

I did watch a few of the ladies last night, i think from 7 to 12. The older one at the end was pretty good, even tho i think she looks alot older then 24.

Hi Ginger38,  Huge sympathies, so very hard to do alone. Are there any groups locally where you could meet others face to face to share your struggles and to encourage each other with diet? I'm a foodie too and love baking. I found it very hard facing the fact that I could never again eat homemade bread still warm from the oven or cakes or pastry. I tried a few gluten free recipes but they were pretty miserable by comparison and I gave up. Lately however I have gone back to it and am finding a few recipes which are pretty good to eat and enjoyable to make. . (For what its worth, I  think the secret is finding a good general purpose gluten free flour and embracing the use of xanthem gum) If you can find just one gluten free receipe you can make and enjoy, it might just help you break out of the struggle you are in?  Sometimes though, you simply have to ask for help to get you through the tough times...a friend, a neighbour, a doctor, a work colleague? I hope you find someone to help. Sue

I never felt that it was hard, gluten feels like a rock in my stomach and everyone else's.    Gluten free is probably not good enough. You need to be grain-free because we do cross react  the other proteins- how lovely. Quinoa is 99% similar to the protein in gluten. Period cramps cease on a grain free diet.  You can try Pamela's Baking mix, it really is GOOD and has almond flour in it. Whole Foods has Italian made, gluten pasta. I am 100% certain I react to most grain based on my brain function when I eat any grain.  You can safely have white rice and tapioca, I make pizza and bread rolls like Red Lobster from that combo. If you really want to know what is safe for you, you can use Dr Vojani's lab in Phoenix. Cyrex Labs. I think you need a celiac partner who is already gluten free to help you. Every time you cheat you are setting your immune system up for a six-month attack.

@BelleDeJour, why did the dermatologist not take a punch biopsy to confirm or eliminate dermatitis herpetiformis? Were you not in an active outbreak stage?

I know it's really hard to be gluten free. When I first started out, IT WAS SO HARD. I eventually had to start telling myself that I was "allergic". Even though I'm not, gluten affects my body negatively. If you're allergic, you stay completely away. I always have my "safe" foods. Options that I always know where I can eat or what I can make that are easy and delicious. If I don't plan ahead, that's when I'm super tempted to go off track. Texas roadhouse rolls used to ALWAYS make me chance it and then they would make me so sick. I eventually had to tell myself, you are allergic. That is something you cannot have. It really helped me. I hope this helps! Have you ever tried baking with almond flour? It may take some trial and error but I've had some great muffins and banana bread from almond flour that may help with your blood sugar.

I don't know how to even begin this or what topic to post this under, so feel free to move it if need be, but I just need a place where I can be honest and I need to vent to people who can relate and who can hopefully inspire me to get back on the right track with my life. This whole gluten / celiac/ testing etc has been nothing but an uphill battle and struggle for me since it began. When I went gluten free years back, it was the hardest thing I ever did, and I did it on my own without much help or guidance aside from this group. I am a foodie and a carb lover and a baker and having to give up so many foods that brought me so much happiness was so incredibly hard for me, but I eventually did it. Even when people encouraged me to have just a little or cheat here and there I didn't give in.  I have since developed uncontrolled diabetes which has complicated all this to say the very least, because none of the breads, flours or replacement foods, that actually taste semi good are diabetic friendly (at least not for me). So I have struggled with eating gluten off and on in the form of crackers and breads and low carb keto foods, even though I know I shouldn't. I do good for a while and then I completely lose control again and somehow justify it in my mind.  Inevitably because of my struggles, I was really concerned about going back on gluten (full time) for the gluten challenge, I mean it gave me an excuse to party hard, and be miserable while doing so, but I was afraid once I did that challenge for 8-10 weeks that I would never be able to give the gluten back up again. And that is exactly where I am sitting at as we speak. It has been an on again off again roller coaster ride of no gluten, gluten, little gluten, no gluten, lots of gluten etc.  I go from buying small loaves of bread and keto tortillas and buns to whole wheat buns and pasta - justifying it somewhat because it is better for my blood sugar issues and that is what is most important. I binge eat some of the foods and then I feel horribly guilty for eating it and then I end up throwing all the gluten food away in a desperate attempt to stop the madness. Then I restart the process all over again at some point.  My joints ache. My stomach is constantly sour. I walk around like I have terrible arthritis or something. My hands are swelling terribly, sometimes I can't even make a fist. I am experiencing numbness and tingling in my hands and weird things with numbness and tightness in my face as well. I am dropping things constantly. I am forgetting lots of things and struggle to recall things. I can't focus on my work. I am having nightmares. I am wanting to sleep all the time. I am bloated and sometimes have diarrhea and nausea, but then other times I am horribly constipated. My  post herpetic neuralgia issues from shingles are much worse now and overall I am just so irritable and angry and emotionally numb.   I know for some it is a simple choice, but I can't be alone in this struggle. Thanks for letting me getting all this out there. I hope someone can scare or encourage some sense into me. It is kind of insane what I do to myself. And I am just tired of dealing with all the food issues and health issues
