Hey Everyone

I am from Nova Scotia Canada and my husband is heading down to maine for a week and i want to send a list of food for him to pick up and i am looking for ideas of gluten free food that is sold down there and where he can go to buy it.

I have a 2 1/2 year old who was recently diagnosed and i am interested in different cereals, cookies, meal ideas and anything really.

If anyone could help me out with some idea and info i would really appreciate it.

THANKS

NICOLE

I am from Portland and there is a Whole Foods store with a TON of gluten free stuff. My 3.5 year old loves the Glutino cereal, Envirokids gorilla munch cereal, and especially the Enviorkids Peanut Butter cereal bars. He eats one every day, sometimes two ! We love the Pamela's Wheat free bread mix - he eats that for toast and peanut butter, and the Gluten Free pantry brownie mix make great brownies. I just picked up Pamela's chocolate chip cookies (small cookies) but they are very good. Glutino also has wafer cookies that are good. Kinnikinik has choc. chip that are also good. Also a good easy snack my son loves is the stretch island fruit (I think that is what they are called) - they come as pressed fruit in just a short strip, or long fruit rolls.

There is also Lois' Natural Foods in Scarborough, right next to Portland which has a lot of gluten free foods too, and isn't quite as overwhelming. The staff there are very helpful and they also have a kitchen and bake gluten free foods there daily, so if your husband wants something freshly cooked that is an option. My sister in law lives in Bangor and she has mentioned there is a place there that serves gluten free pizza. I can find out the name of the restaurant if you like. Also - Flatbread pizza on the waterfront in Portland has a gluten free pizza dough. These are just things off the top of my head, but if you have more specific questions - let me know and I can do my best to answer. Hope he has a good trip!

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Same day which is strange to me.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
