Dry Skin

I was just told on Thursday that I have celiac disease. So, its only been a week and I am on the path to learning...which seems impossible at this point. Anyway, I have noticed lately that I have EXTREMELY dry skin. I can scratch my arm or leg, and flakes go everywhere. Sorry to explain that in detail, but I want to know if this is from celiac disease. If so, what can I do about it. I wear long sleeves alot to cover it up and HARDLY ever shorts.

thanks!!

Confused!!!!

I never thought of this being a symptom of celiac. But now that you mention it, I have very dry skin, too. My mom (who I think has celiac, too) has the same problem (among other celiac problems). She also had pretty bad psoriasis and her hair started falling out. It's much better now, but it used to be pretty bad at one point. Well, in a little bit over a month she comes over and then we maybe get her tested with EnteroLab. I can't wait to see the results :P .

Thanks for the reply. Its just so strange because I didn't have dry skin like this until recently before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I also now have very thin hair but have been told with time that will come back. Good luck with your mom....my mom just got tested and she does not have it but my dad's next. He has most of my symptoms so we'll see!

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
