5-yr-old With Steatorrhea & Tummy Pain

:( I was diagnosed with celiac disease, and since my kids have similar symptoms, my PCP suggested we all go gluten-free. Charlie, the 5-yr-old, ate a piece of bread 3 or 4 days ago, but has not had gluten (I think) since. Tonight, he's got steatorrhea and a tummyache again. I don't know what to tell him; he doesn't understand why he's still sick. I would rather not have him get all those tests, but do you think I should? We also went off dairy just to make sure we would get better faster. We're not, though.

I start getting changed stools around day 2 after gluten, and that portion lasts another 3 days or so, on average, for me. Doesn't sound out of the normal for a gluten reaction at all. A piece of bread is a lot of gluten!

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests. Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

      I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
