Trying New Things..

Stubborn red head Apprentice

Today is My husband's birthday. Its become a tradition of ours to go to a 5 star restaurant for our birthdays. My husband chose The Chop House this year. When I made the reservations online, I wrote a note to them stating that I was gluten-free and would need a gluten-free Menu.

To my Surprise they had a great selection of gluten-free plates. So I had Carpaccio which I have never had, and ejoyed every bit. It was shaved Beef tenderloin, topped with a Dijon mustard sauce finely chopped mushroom and arugula. It was incredible. For the main course I choose a Australian Rib of Lamb, with a sweet herb sauce made with the au jus sauce from the lamb ribs.

All of this I most likely wouldn't have tried if I hadn't been on the gluten-free Diet. I am so glad for this forcing me out of my comfort zone, and try new foods.

I've started doing that too, when they bring out the gluten-free menu (if they have one) I initially thought of it as limiting, but now I've taken the same approach. Why not try something new!

Tried Bourbon Chicken at LeeAnn Chin's yesterday and it was yummy (not quite 5-Star, but good nonetheless)

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.

You would think any business would see the wisdom of honoring a $50 gift certificate on the basis of customer satisfaction alone, apart from any questions about software glitches.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.
