Five year plans?? Dear gawd.... . :unsure: .. .. ...I have trouble planning my day.

I admire so much people who do this....actively map out where they want to be in a set time.

I'm so lucky, and life is currently so great for me, that I guess it's just full steam ahead, trying to keep this fabulous status quo going.

Forty Year Plan: Continuing to keep any and all diabetes complications completely at bay. This has been my life plan for many years, but it's nice to actually see it written out...

Man, it ain't sailing around the globe..... :( . . .. . ....perhaps I could add this to the plan. Not an easily do-able combination, I fear -- very tough to perform constant blood tests and insulin injections during the famous South Pacific swells....I'd be jabbin' everything BUT me arm or leg........ . :rolleyes:

A 5 year plan? Hmmm.

I found my first grey hair on 12/21/2012.

My son is 13. So for the next 5 years I will be busy raising a young man to adulthood.

My daughter is 10. So I am raising a young woman. (These are considered the toughest years for a female.)

Trying to stay healthy. Keep up with the husband and kids. Knit some stuff for fun and gifts. (Looking in to "prayer shawl" or "Operation Linus" I think it adds some mystery to knitting. I'm going to try a special little shrug sweater that is for mastectomy recovery, haven't found the right yarn yet.)

Getting 2 small children going through school, seeing if I can rebuild my health to get back to part time work. I would love to take a 6 month sabbatical when the kids are old enough to appreciate it, and travel as a family. I''ll be sure to pop by if I am passing :

I have to admit I am intrigued by the prayer shawl. I bought a clearance Prayer Shawl book, because the patterns looked soo easy. I did not expect the personal stories would be so interesting. The story on page 59 caught my interest. A wounded soldier at Walter Reed was asked what he had wrapped around him. He said he didn't know, someone just gave it to him. He likes it because it keeps him warm. He then added a confession to the monk, he hears praying voices when he wears it.

Even if I only make 1 a year, I think it will be worth it.

In 10 years Max, God willing, will graduate from high school and then other than an occasional birthday party, wedding, etc. here and there, there will be NO reason to have to speak with or deal with Jesse. THAT, my friends, will be a big part of that happily ever after!! :D

Coconut, since I cannot have almonds because they make me drowsy. I think it was 55 grams of coconut for 2 cups of egg whites - plus some salt, baking powder, xantan and psyllium... You get six 6-inch bagels. The texture is a bit odd if you are looking for a chewy, dense bagel, but I am not fan of chewiness, so I appreciate their crunchy, golden crust and airy inside. Yum!

BC--thanks! (I can access the board now from my computer, but have problems posting after a quote :blink: ) Even now, I can't "return" to form paragraphs, but I digress :D I'm the opposite of you--allergic to coconut, but eat loads of almond. Since I also prefer light, crispy bagels (like Udi's), I bet I'd like those--will try with almond flour :) .

Glad to help :) I think you will have to play around a bit with the proportions: coconut is high in fibre and absorbs a lot of moisture, so it requires more egg than almond flour.

I simply poured the mixture in my donut pan. I know that's not how you make bagels, and I used to make-boil-and-bake my own back in the days, but I personally don't think I could make a coconut batter that would be good for boiling.

I'm way behind on posts. Still thinking about my five year plan and responding to the posts I haven't read. The party was beyond my expectations (except I wish it was nearer to some psillies- I'm determined to start meeting my dear forum friends). It wiped me out for a week because, as usual, i OVERDID IT (big surprise). hey, I was celebrating two special birthdays (3) and my living! Didn't cost quite as much as i expected so we can throw Tony a nice party with his friends at Brown for his official 21st. He only had 3 friends at the party but he more than made up for quantity with quality. These friends either waited a week to go back to school (the theater major parlayed it into an assignment) and the other 2 drove back from school.

Anyway, since thee isn't a set psillie group email and i don't have everyone's I wanted to share this with everyone in case I didn't have your email to send it to:

      I ate sprouted buckwheat and hard boiled egg last night instead of cereal and got extra 1/2 hour sleep but more importantly feel better this morning. I do sleep in cycles that seems to rotate btwn 3 and 6 hrs but I will monitor next time I make a pot. Bwheat is a complete protein with good amounts of thiamin, magnesium, fiber and iron. High carb but much lower glycemic and much healthier than refined flour cereal.

      @glucel,  There's a strong correlation between thiamine deficiency, hypoxia, and insomnia.  Thiamine is needed to help red blood cells carry oxygen.  In thiamine deficiency, hypoxia (lack of oxygen in tissues) occurs, and this can result in insomnia. Hypoxia causes systemic inflammation, increases inflammatory markers, and is associated with cardiovascular events.  Curiously, thiamine deficiency is correlated with excessive daytime sleepiness and oversleeping.   I found a combination of Tryptophan, Pyridoxine B 6, magnesium, and L-theanine works very well for inducing sleep.  Sometimes, I add Passion Flower Extract and/or Sweet Melissa.  There's no side effects the next morning with Passion Flower, it just induces sleepiness.  Sweet Melissa is groovy, and has anti-inflammatory effects on the digestive system.   I prefer to take 250 mg Benfotiamine and 100 mg Thiamine TTFD in the mornings and another dose of Benfotiamine at lunch.  I try not to take any thiamine after four p.m. because it keeps my brain so energized and wanting to think... Oh, I do take a combination of another form of thiamine (sulbutiamine), Pyridoxine and Cobalamine for a pain reliever sometimes, but I can sleep after taking that.  But thiamine does help regulate circadian rhythm.   Make sure you're getting Omega Three fats! They'll help you satisfy that late night carb craving with fewer carbs.  Flaxseed oil, olive oil, sunflower seed oil.  Nuts and nut butters, like walnuts and cashews, are good, too, if you can tolerate them.    Try taking the 100mg thiamine HCl before your aerobics and see if there's a difference.  Sweet dreams!       Thanks to everybody for your help. I reread the dr's notes from the biopsy procedure and it seems I had worse than atrofied villi. It was termed flattened mucosa. So while iron ferratin levels are normal my bet is, as kitty alluded to, iron not getting into cells. I have dr appointment next mo but don't hold out a lot of hope, There is strong correlation of low red blood cells and insomnia so at least I finally solved that one after few yrs of being mislead. I intend to take stop taking 100 mg b1 at noon time and start 150 mg benfotiamin. I may or may not add the the 100 mg b1evening meal. BTW, last night had 1/3 lb beef. potato then 2 bowls cereal and an apple later in the eve. I generally do my areobics before supper so maybe that contributes to the hunger.

      I have osteoporosis and have crushed three vertebrae.  I supplement with Lysine, Tryptophan, threonine, calcium, Boron, Vitamins D, A, and K, and the B vitamins (folate, B12, and Thiamine B1 especially for bone health).   I tried Fosomax, but it tore up my insides.  I prefer the supplements.  I feel better and my bones feel stronger.   References: A composite protein enriched with threonine, lysine, and tryptophan improves osteoporosis by modulating the composition and metabolism of the gut microbiota https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41915427/

      @Aileen Cregan, I was put on high blood pressure medication, too. But I was able to correct my high blood pressure by supplementing with Thiamine Vitamin B 1.  I am no longer on high blood pressure medication.  I feel much better without the medication. I continue to supplement Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine.   The particular high blood pressure medication I took was Norvasc (amlodipine), which causes thiamine deficiency by blocking thiamine transporters so that thiamine cannot enter cells.  Benfotiamine can get into cells by merging with the cell membrane, thus bypassing nonfunctional thiamine transporters.   Indapamide also blocks thiamine transporters! The use of this type of medications that block thiamine precipitated Wernickes Encephalopathy.  My doctors did not recognize the connection to Thiamine deficiency.  I nearly died.   Talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing with Benfotiamine, a fat soluble form of thiamine that bypasses thiamine transporters.  Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity Assay to check your thiamine levels asap.  Routine blood tests for thiamine are not an accurate measure of  thiamine in the body.   Absorption of essential vitamins like Thiamine is altered in Celiac Disease due to damaged villi, inflammation and dysbiosis.  The Gluten Free diet can be lacking in vitamins and minerals.  Discuss supplementing with all the eight B vitamins,  the four fat soluble vitamins and necessary minerals. Please keep us posted on your progress!
