  1. I am SOOOOO not there yet! LOL I'm less than a month into this so I'm sort of still obessed with it. I have eaten out twice (which is a great reminder) but neither time did it turn out well. I'm finding it quite possible that I could become OCD about gluten contamination.
  2. Or you can just stick to vodka and cranberry juice.
  3. Good to know! Thanks. I'm not quite as concerned about the lactose, as I feel that's only a secondary problem for me, and eliminating it from my FOOD diet (along with casein) was enough to minimize the symptoms.
  4. Thanks, I did look into Enterolab for myself and it's just too costly for us at this time. I know that sounds trite, but here it is August 16th and I haven't paid this month's mortgage yet, so I really do mean it when I say we don't have the money.
  5. I'm in the process of a gluten-free trial myself for my own issues, but now I'm concerned about my son. He's had chronic diarrhea for more than a year, he went through a period of time where he was sick (throwing up) frequently (a couple of times a month without other obvious sickness) and he was tired a lot and his head hurt. He went through a multitude...
  6. I looked up the ingredients of my current meds and this is what I found: Prevacid contains "starch" Relpax contains "lactose" Now, I know lactose doesn't have gluten, but I am intolerant to milk as well, so does this mean I can't take my meds???
  7. LOL too funny! With already having a houseful of men, I can't IMAGINE adding one more to the mix!
  8. Um, whoops! I am in fact at this time casein intolerant. Thanks for the tip! I seem to be ok with vodka (thank God!) but I had no idea wine was filtered with casein. I should just give up on eating out for now, it was just too hard to pass up meeting with a friend I haven't seen in MONTHS! Next time, it's Outback or just a bar. LOL
  9. Well, actually, I read all the ingredients of the drink and it sounded ok. I think it *may* have been the salad. After going through the whole menu and asking questions about what was in this and what was in that, explaining what I could and couldn't eat, she finally brought me a salad with grilled chicken, sans croutons and cheese......with a big ol...
  10. Hmmm....so if it was an Red Apple Wine drink with more than just wine in it I may be in trouble? (where's the guilty face? LOL)
  11. Just asking.... I went out to dinner tonight and now I'm kind of bloaty. I knew I shouldn't have eaten out but it was nice to catch up with an old friend. I'm sure there was something in something that I ate...milk or gluten.
  12. Cool! Thanks, everyone.
  13. There's a suitcase of various colors. What do they mean? What do the orange squares mean before some post titles? Sorry for the stupid questions...forgive me...I'm new.
  14. Ok, why can I see this on the forums page under "last post info" but I don't see it when I click on the Message Board??? Well, anyway, thanks for the replies! My dr of course isn't discussing celiac with me because I couldn't have because it's just too rare...
  15. The arthritis in my foot is what finally sent me over the edge and prompted me to start the gluten free diet. The story is longer than that I assure you, but anyway... The dr thought I originally thought I had gout, which is of course food-related, but is it related to celiac? I had thought only rheumatoid arthritis was related, but after a negative...
  16. Thanks so much for all your replies. It's hard reading about celiac on the net, because while you do find articles talking about overweight celiacs, it still seems like it's not the norm, or even common. Leah--what does "pm" mean? I've been all over message boards, but I haven't seen that abbreviation yet.
  17. I'm so sorry! Being fresh off the diarrhea roller coaster, I can relate. I hope you feel better today. Don't beat yourself up over this. Everyone I've talked to says it's so hard in the beginning that you WILL slip up now and again. Expect it, learn from it, and don't buy those chips again.
  18. Ok, now I REALLY don't understand! LOL I'm sorry, again, chgomom! How did you gluten yourself?
  19. Hmmm....I may have to pick your brain a little. I have been known as the cookie lady because around Christmastime I bake DOZENS of cookies!! I'm afraid to do that this year with "regular" cookies because of the mess it makes...getting flour all over everything and all. I had thought of baking gluten-free cookies, but I haven't quite got the nerve....
  20. Ok, first of all, HUGS to you!!!!!! When I first went milk-free I used to get the rotten egg burps every time I slipped. Yuck!! Second, being a newbie I'll ask the stupid question.....pressed canola oil has gluten in it???
  21. I know it's not the so-called "norm" but I have struggled with my weight for YEARS. I'm just wondering if it gets easier to manage your weight when you get the gluten under control. I have noticed already (2 mos milk-free and 3 weeks gluten free) that the belly bloat is gone, but I also feel less hungry. I felt RAVENOUSLY hungry at first, given that...
  22. Thanks!!!
  23. Ok, um....I still don't know what to avoid. What EXACTLY might be on the label that would lead me to think a beauty product had gluten in it? (I had thought I'd skip thinking about beauty products until I had food pretty well down, but then in the shower today, I have no idea how it happened, but some water went UP my nose and down my throat while I...
  24. Well, I'm staying away from gluten and casein...and that's about all I can handle right now! LOL I'm still pretty new to all of this, so I'll have to see how it goes as I'm off the gluten longer and longer. Thanks, guys!
  25. I believe it's the casein. When I tried to eliminate just the Lactose I only got limited results. I have a head full of hair, so if soy IS affecting me, it's not in that department! LOL I actually started this whole journey by eliminating lactose, then added milk, then gluten. I really don't know if I could handle giving up any more right now! ...
