  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. I haven't been on the message boards in almost a month. I haven't wanted to deal with any of the emotions around my celica. I'm grumpy about the amount of money I have to spend on gluten-free foods, I couldn't have the stuff I wanted on Turkey Day, and I'm not looking forward to all the stuff I can't have around the Christmas Holidy. Normally I'm a very...
  3. I don't know if it's just one specific food group other than I really miss good bread. I'm running low on ideas of things that are portable...specifically for lunch. I have access to a microwave and a refridgerator but I really can't "cook" per se. I shy away from cold lunch meats because I have no clue what they're preserved and packaged with. I don...
  4. I was dx with Celiac 5 weeks ago and just as I began to get used to that idea I found out that I am also diabetic. This unfortunately narrows my food choices even more. I am frustrated at trying to find good food choices for both problems. Several of the gluten-free snacks that I found I liked shoot my blood sugar up so I shouldn't be eating them. I then...
  5. I live in Holyoke also. I was just diagnosed about 3 weeks ago. I didn't think there was as many of us as there are in Western Ma let alone Holyoke! Have a great day!
  6. Greetings to everyone out there. I'm just recently diagnosed and wondering if anyone else out there is from Mass and where you are. I'm looking for a support group in my area (Western Ma) to attend in person. Any suggestions?
  7. Welcome to both you and your husband...I felt the same way you did when I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. I immediately hit the Whole Foods store locally as well as Trader Joes and the Health foods section at Stop &Shop. I was amazed the amount of foods that I found!!! Food shopping now takes longer because my wife and I now have to read every label but...

I was on vacation at the beach and got a call from the doctors office...Happy Birthday, I know your on vacation so enjoy the sun...By the way, stop eating all wheat and products containing gluten bacause that's what has been making you sick for the last 4 months...
  9. Hey Melissa, I live in Holyoke Mass which is only 20minutes south of Northampton. My wife and I are up there all the time. There are several stores within a 15minute drive from Northampton that you can get decent food at. There are Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Cornacopia at Thornes Marketplace right in downtown Noho and the Stop & Shop in Noho...
  10. I have to agree with you...The food is expensive. I was only diagnosed 3 weeks ago but I've spent double what I would normally spend on food just in the last 3 weeks! I know that buying things off the internet by the case will be less expensive but I'm still in the stages of deciding what I like and don't like. It's crazy......
  11. I thinks one of the things I miss most is a nice thick chewy pizza crust. I was just diagnosed 3 weeks ago so I'm still in the trial stage of different foods and feel like I won't ever find stuff that I really like the taste of. Maybe I just have to get used to the different flavor...or lack of flavor. Any suggestions?
  12. I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with Celiac Disease thru blood tests. It's been a challange to change my eating habits and diet but my wife has been incredibly helpful and supportive. I have to have an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy and I'm absolutely terrified!! I can't quite decide if I'm more afraid of the procedures themselves or the possible outcomes. Has...
