  1. I feel so bad for thinking I could do option number 2 because Emmah vomited and wont eat her dinner. She say's her tummy hurts.

I have thought about enterolabs but I'm unsure of them. If no one in manitoba will do it for me, then I will do gene testing with Enterolabs.

Manitoba health will not cover the gene testing for me, that I know. I'm ok with paying for it. here or enterolabs.

I told my dh atleast if I get gene testing done and she has the gene, I'll know it's celiac & if she doesn't have the gene then I'll know it's gluten intolorence.

I also had problems when I tried to get "numbers" from my doctor and from Emmah's, they don't even tell the doctor, just that they say it's neg. So you could be on the inconclusive line and it would stuill be neg.

Thanks for your support. I don't know why I seem to ned to know these day's, I was fine until we saw that GI.

Now I will know, with the gene testing.

I don't know if I said this already but I got Dr. peter greens book in the mail today, LOVE IT. Thanks to all that recommended it.

  2. I'm crying and shaking. I called her Dr today. He called back and we had a talk. he's going to find out about gene testing for me. If they will let us, we are going to do it.

He said we have 2 other options.

ONE- since we saw a GI here who was terrible, he can and would refer us to Toronto. That's not an option for us at this time.

TWO- give her gluten and do the tTg again, if we see a rise then we know and she can be Dx'ed right there.

My mother told me I was abusing her for even thinking about option number 2. I agree but it seems like my only choice at this point.

Right now she's having a PB sandwhich on wonder bread(whole wheat).

    Wish me luck.

  3. So we saw the ped today after seeing the HORRIBLE gastro on Thursday. she was rude, why are you here if she's no longer sick, why are you waisting my time? and if the ttg say's neg it's neg they are 100 % accurate and so on, I left in tears.

Her ped say's he believes it's celiac's and not to worry about that gastro and agreed that I should file a complaint against her with the college of physicians & surgeons, So I am.

He said don't you dare take her off the gluten-free diet and doens't want to see her for 2 months unless she's not doing well.

he also said that some people take tests as being the be all and end all when they aren't, no test is 100% right from the peds mouth.

I said ya I work in veterinary medicine and I could give her 20 examples of tests being inaccurate.

Has anyone else ever come across Dr's that think tests are 100% and if it's neg that's all there is to it?

  4. Well that went as bad as I thought, worse actually.

I was bawling the whole time after we left that office. She was a huge BI*CH. She wanted to know why emmah was wasting her time if she was better. she also said if the ttg say's she doesn't have celiac's then she doesn't and thats all there is too it. better or not. she said she has a wheat allergy or something like that or an intolerence.

I can't see a different GI because thats all there is where we live. She staying gluten-free so that's all that matters. I see her ped monday because I want to jerk about this woman and get allergy testing done.

  5. Wish us luck. Me more than Emmah LOL.

I'm the one going to tell him no way is she going back on gluten for a biopsy. I normally have a big mouth and I sure don't scare easy, this is silly, I'm acting like a scared little girl.

The big bad dr's going to get anyry with me.

Keep us in your thoughts and on top of that luck hope for a DX's on diet response PLEASE!!

    Char

PS Emmah grew enough in the last 3 months gluten-free that she was able to go into swimming lessons because she can touch the bottom...It was funny, she has to hop to keep her mouth out of the water.

    She's very excited

  6. You are not alone!!

My Mother in law asks my dh EVERYTIME he calls if Emmah is still on that "silly diet" I almost went through the phone at her a few weeks ago. I have done everything I told them, I sent them website links & after that I wrote a letter to them about celiac disease and what it was and so on...BIG SURPRISE but I didn't get a reply!!

My family is great. Though they don't know it all they know a lot and TRY, if they don't know if it's a safe food, she doens't get it.

I'm so sorry that happened to your little one.

Hope your baby is feeling better!!

  7. Hi. Also a mom of a previously very sick little girl, now 5, who would have had to wait 9 months for a consult and at minimum 11.5 months for a biopsy in the Cdn health care system...

How do you know you would've had to wait that long? We only have 1 Ped GI in our whole prov. and the wait is about 3 months. I have no idea how long for biopsy. The kind of wait you are talking about is completely unacceptable. I'm sorry that was your experience.

I also have to agree with mama "So I encourage you strongly to pursue this but don't start counting the results until you're really confident that you're being strict or else your experiement's results won't be worth the effort." There are so many places gluten hides. GOOD LUCK.

  8. So I got a reply from Envirokids today. Here it is:

    Hello Char:

Thank you for your email. So sorry to hear about your child's experience. Hope she is feeling better today.

We will consider your comments as the boxes are being redesigned this year.

We do make other cereals that contain gluten. However, our strict production schedules and quality assurance methods ensure that the least allergenic foods are produced first. The products that contain gluten, soy and finally nuts are made and then the entire line is cleaned and the process re-starts. The equipment is periodically inspected & tested for gluten contamination.

We are confident that our gluten free products are acceptable for those following a gluten free diet. These products are also milk (dairy) casein free - EXCEPT for the Chocolate Crispy Rice bar. The products are:
