    I have celiac disease and have never had a problem with having a mixed kitchen. I do have a separate toaster though and separate jars of butter and jam to avoid contamination.     my understanding is that if you have the genes for celiac disease you have a 1 in 30ish chance of getting celiac disease at some point. also if you have a first degree relative with celiac disease (like a parent) you have a 1 in 10 chance of having it. I dont know of any stats which look at the combination of the above factors but its going to be higher...

    statistically 10% of people with celiac disease had negative blood results the blood tests are just a screening test which finds 90% of celiac disease cases - but that means 10% are missed. If the dr thinks its a good idea id do it. can you investigate the video pill version of the endoscopy instead maybe? (sorry dont remember technical name...

    dont know. but i had mine out at age 26 prior to diagnosis with celiac disease. My mother had hers out at 22yrs and has gluten sensitivity.

    My 9mth old baby has a problem with casein. Does casein intollerance cause asthma or does that mean its a casein allergy? The asthma is not necessary immediate just if shes bee eating dairy she gets asthma that day sometimes but definitely that night. My daughter also gets vomiting and diarreah. thanks

    My baby is 9mths old and vomits (small amounts) from yoghurt and gets severe diarrhea from both yoghurt and cheese. She is also getting asthma and is on medication daily for that. (she is gluten free just in case so far BTW) She doesnt get diarrhea from her from her HA (partially hydrolised formula), but refuses to have more than 1/2 recommended amount...

    thanks. oh i did have another symptom - i was very short and thin from age 6yrs - and then grew at 18years to an average/tall height (169cm about 5 61/2). i wasnt diagnosed until 27years and then it was by accident!

    I got glutened at 14 weeks and apart from D & stomach ache was fine (as was baby). last pregancy i ate glten all pregnancy (didnt know) and have a healty toddler Im more careful when eating while im pregnant out but i do still do it occaisionally at trusted places.

    Thanks for your advice everyone. I was taking a proboitic for a month but after I worked out the vitamins made me ill I really pruned my diet back to definitely gluten-free basics and no medications at all. I live in Australia and all food or medications have it listed if there is even minute traces of wheat, gluten nuts, etc we have among the strictest laws...

    is there any reason a gluten free multivitamin would make me really ill with D, tiredness and weight loss? I need multivits as i have osteopenia and am hoping to get pregnant so need folate etc. anyone else had a problem with gluten-free vitamins? thanks
