  1. OH WOW!! Thanks to you ALL for all those replies! The pepperoni was at the party, with no package to read, so I dont know what brand it was. I will remember that (or try to!) about Hormel though. THANKS! I will write down the info about Hormel and Quaker in my shopping notebook (aka "my brain") so if I forget at least it will be written somewhere...
  2. Thanks - since he feels strongly about it being the Quaker rice cakes for SURE, we wont buy those again. Sometimes he gets a strange "feeling" about something he ate and says that it is going to make him sick. Even is he actually LIKES the taste of whatever it was! I will check on pepperoni before I let him have that again.... And I will call the...
  3. When we first went gluten free, my 14 yr old son improved drastically, but lately he has been feeling bad again although not as bad as before. He was REALLY irritable and depressed today and I was afraid that meant worse things to come. Then, he ate a few pepperoni pieces and some rice cracker thingies made by Quaker when we were at my husband's company...
  4. A menu is a great idea, altho a REALLY hard one. I will try it tho, and a grocery list to go along with it. Thanks! She lives in east Texas, near the LA border, in the general vicinity of Logansport. I ordered some stuff for her, but not from Amazon. Is that the best place to shop as far as good prices go? I need to order some pasta for my kids...
  5. Wow - I'm amazed that just picking up a bag of flour made you so sick! I am so sorry you got sick, but at least you know what it was caused by. I will have to remember to be very careful about things like that. My son is gluten free, but I am wondering if he is getting CCed because he is not feeling as good as he was when we first went gluten free. ...
  6. Thanks Andrea. Yes, we went gluten free while waiting on test results and the changes have been absolutely incredibly wonderful.
  7. My 14 year old son was constantly hungry and usually ate every one to two hours throughout the day and was complaining again about being hungry in a few minutes. Within a week of going gluten free, that all disappeared and we were really shocked. I STILL cant get over him eating small meals three times a day, with maybe only one afternoon snack. It is...
  8. Thank you Ursula! So does this mean he is gluten sensitive or gluten intolerant? I guess the name really doesnt matter but I would just like to know. He does not have celiac but could eventually get it if he eats gluten? What I DO know is that he has improved GREATLY by going gluten free and he is so much happier, so I will NOT give up on the gluten...
  9. Here are the results of my son's test (FINALLY!) Does this mean he does NOT have Celiac Disease? Gluten Sensitivity Gene Test HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0303 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0502 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,1 (Subtype 9,5) Interpretation Of HLA-DQ Testing: Although you do not possess the...
  10. Good ideas everyone - thanks so much! Some were new to me as well, and will be very helpful. I ordered some pasta and some mixes to be sent to her to get her started. I hope she will start the diet ASAP so she will be feeling much better sooner.
  11. My sister was diagnosed with Celiac disease a few months ago, then a few weeks ago we found out that my son has it as well... So, I have learned a LOT - it is overwhelming to figure out this diet when you are feeling well. I dont know how anyone could do it when they are GLUTENED! My sister is in a major FOG and she is too overwhelmed to even try to go...
  12. I see that this is a really old post, and I wish I had found it BEFORE Saturday when I let my son have some McD's fries. He was sick from Sunday night until now - he is still not ok yet. I feel really bad that I didnt read the ingredients first.
  13. That IS a nightmare! I'm so sorry you had to go through this with your daughter, and I hope she is feeling lots better now! I believe that our son's problems would have come to a head MUCH sooner had we not been homeschooling him. Simply because he would have been eating way more junk food! The teachers would have pressured us to put him on Ritalin - several...
  14. Thanks so much to everyone who answered - I am so relieved! That is one of they results of being gluten free that I NEVER EXPECTED. We've lived with a ravenous kid for 14 years and we were so used to it that we did not realize how bad it really was, and that it was not normal. That is NOT one of the symptoms for which we took him to the doctor. The...
  15. I THINK, I HOPE that this is a good sign. Ever since Saturday my 14 yr old has stopped being ravenous from the second he wakes up until he goes to bed. It has been 4 full days and he has eaten 3 small meals each day with one healthy smoothie for a snack, but only because I wanted him to. I think that even though he isnt hungry, his body needs...
  16. \ Thanks Lisa! I asked him, and he said maybe he'd go check it out if his test comes back positive. He thinks he is going to rely solely on the test, whereas I plan to rely on results from the gluten free diet!! We FINALLY made it through a couple days gluten free! And the 2 days before that were gluten lite because we had some small mishaps...
  17. My son is ALWAYS hungry - in fact, in our large extended family, that is what he is well known for. His whole life he has been ravenous, but not overweight. He is 5'8" or so and 145 pounds. We havent gotten a diagnosis yet, but are hoping to see improvement on the gluten-free diet. Waiting on test results.
  18. Thanks Paulina! He's depressed about EVERYTHING, and the thought of a gluten free diet is depressing too. But, truthfully, he is very negative about almost everything. SO depressed. He's already gone back to bed for the day.... *sigh* I definitely appreciate your input about allowing him to grieve! Thanks so much.
  19. You are SO right - maybe now he will really get the connection - gluten = pain and misery!!! I think he just hasnt really believed it yet because we dont have the test results back. ALSO, the doctor has been throwing out several wild theories and he didnt have any of those possible problems so he may be thinking he doesnt have celiac either. ...
  20. THANKS so much for the welcome and the help! I wrote down everything he ate today and the ONLY thing that might have been a problem today was the hashbrown. "Produced in a plant that produces wheat products" or something like that. So, he was irritable after that, but not too bad for most of the day until 6pm when suddenly he started feeling AWFUL...
  21. I am SO happy to have found this site - someone sent me the link to this site. My 14 yr old son has a LOT of the symptoms of celiac disease, but we have not yet received the test results. We sent off a test to ENTEROLABS - it was just the cheek swab for the gene test. It was all we could afford. But, now I am worried maybe we made a mistake, since...
