  1. I like Carol Fensters pizza in her new book. I CRAVE normal pizza.
  2. I have been gluten-free for 3 years and I haven't cheated once. ( I accidentally ate a part of a flour tortilla when I was told they were corn, but that's it) I have disease "phobia" and the list of cancers and other autoimmune diseases that can be triggered by eating gluten are too long and horrifying for me to even think about cheating. There is nothing...
  3. My gastroenterologist (sp?) also prescribed it to me and he diagnosed my celiac disease so it better be gluten-free! It makes me soooooooo sleepy. Jenni
  4. JoAnn, Yes, the recipe was from Lyn Rae Ries's book. Does your library offer an inner library loan system? Whenever I can't find a book at my library I go to the desk and they look in their computer in the network of libraries that they belong to. They then request to borrow a book from the library that has one in stock. It has almost never failed me. Yes...
  5. Last Thanksgiving I made stuffing that was very good! I didn't stuff the turkey with it though. I cubed the Featherlight Rice Bread and mixed them with butter and garlic salt. I toasted them in a 200 degree oven and stirred every now and then until they were crunchy. Then I mixed them with chicken broth, more butter and a mixture of sauteed onions, garlic...
  6. p.s. I soak the chicken in ice water first, dry, then dip in yogurt, then toss them in a baggie with the breading
  7. Breading Mix 2 c. sorghum flour 6 T cornstarch 1 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp pepper 4 tsp Season-All salt This is really good. I used it to make fried chicken fingers and my daughter and I lierally didn't even get to the table to eat them, we ate then right out of the pan. Sorry, if this is a repeat but when I posted it the first...
  8. Breading Mix 2 c. sorghum flour 6 T cornstarch 1 tsp. onion powder 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp. Season-All salt Mix well. This is really good. I made fried chicken fingers with it and my daughter and I literally did not even get to the table to eat these - we were eating them out of the pan!
  9. I also wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I am the Celiac mother like the previous post with a non Celiac family. They are aware of my condition but obliviously contaminate the kitchen every day. I cringe as they make a sandwich and wipe their hands on the dish drying towel without washing first, as they wipe the counter top and then put the rag...
  10. Here is my favorite recipe from Lynn Rae's book so far. It has a flavor to it but if you want it plain I'm sure just omitting the onion flakes would be fine. Cheddar and Onion Bread 3/4 c. eggs ( 4 lg. eggs minus 1 yolk) 1 cup bottled water 1 tsp. cider vinegar 2 T. veg. oil 2 T. honey Place above ingred. in bread maker. Add: 1 cup brown rice flour...

  12. Thanks! I read about that particular product and how it helps dark circles and wrinkles...of which I have both. I was disappointed to see wheat on the label when I got home. Guess I'm back to square one, looking tired and old but not contaminated with wheat!
  13. I just typed out the whole recipe but I don't see it on here! It took me forever because I don't type...did it get lost in cyberspace?? AAHHH!!
  14. Hi JoyS. In my 8 recipe books they say that tapioca starch and tapioca flour are the same thing - just different names. In case you don't get the "celiac.com" reply like I did for you....check out Lynn Rae's book at lynnrae.com or whatnowheat.com Nice to get to know a fellow gluten-free'r. Not too many in my area.

  20. I bought a new bottle of moisturizer and I noticed that it has wheat protein in it - is it ok to use since I am not ingesting it??
  21. Read my post in the other catagory....I just wrote about Lyn Rae Ries's new book Delicious Breads - the breads are soooo good!
  22. I just bought Lyn Rae Ries's new book Delicious Breads. I have been trying to bake a decent loaf of bread for two years and they all end up in the trash. Even Bette Hagmans. I made two loaves of bread so far from this new book and I loved them both. I made the basic sandwich bread and the Onion Cheese Loaf. They were soooo good!! They do take a lot of different...
  23. I find it hard when I go to someone's house who made a "special" meal just for ME. And there is some kind of gluten in it that they didn't even think of...so I can't eat it. Makes me feel bad. Jenni
  24. DH welts! "They" say the welts are itchy...mine burn.
  25. I just discovered this board! It's nice to meet you all. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease two years ago. I am anxious to learn from all of you. I missed out on all the old info but I'm ready for all the new stuff. Jenni
