  1. My 4 year old daughter was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago. I would encourage you to go through with the biopsy even though she isn't having the intestinal problems. With Ashlee it was not the iron, but rather slow growth we noticed and tried to find out what was causing it. Everyone told us if it was celiac disease there would be clear abdominal issues and...
  2. Thank you, this is starting to make more sense! Since she has only been gluten-free for 2 weeks, I really don't know how sensitive she is, I am trying to make sure we are being ULTRA safe at this point. I didn't think about the teflon coating on the pans, or the plastic utinsils. I did get new rubber spatulas since thoses seemed more porous. We also got...
  3. Well, this seemed like the best place to post this question. My daughter was recently diagnosed, and I am doing my best to ensure that everything that passes her lips is safe! I don't understand why I have read that you need seperate pans, kitchen-maid, utensils etc. Doesn't washing them out make them clean? If not, don't I need special forks, plates...
  4. Hi and welcome! I'm pretty new to this myself (my daughter will be gluten-free 2 weeks tomorrow!) but I can only imagine how frustrating it is that your son won't eat. I personally wouldn't try to switch him to soy milk instead of the toddler formula. Since he isn't eating, he really needs the extra nutrients the formula provides. Maybe he just got so...
  5. OK, I see that Ashlee definately needs to be lactose free, but does that mean I just have to keep out the obvious, or do I have be as neurotic about milk as I have to be about gluten? I thought she would take it really hard, but after 4 bouts of diarrhea yesterday morning, she seems totally OK with it! I have noticed people saying they sometimes have problems...
  6. My daughter just had her biopsy on St Patricks day. She is 4-1/2, so she is older than your little guy, but it might help to know that she doesn't even think she went to sleep. She does remember the poke on her hand, but tells us it didn't hurt as much as getting her blood drawn becuase of the special cream they put on her. She was crying when she woke...
  7. Thanks for the encouragement! She was 26.4 lbs when she had her biopsy done, which was down 3 lbs from her "normal weight", which I know now was so low because of celiac disease. She is starting to drink the Pediasure better, so I am trying to up her a bit. The nurse said for her to get everything she needs from it she would need 3-4 cans. She has not...
  8. Hi, my name is Michelle, and my 4-1/2 yr old was just diagnosed with Celiacs with a biopsy done on the 17th. She has been gluten free (well, I know of one mistake so far) for 9 days now and I really thought she would be feeling better than she is. The Ped GI said that the test was very clear, but didn't say if that meant her intestines were badly damaged...
