My delivery date is in March and I am already concerned about the hospital. My OB knows very little about Celiacs and will not be learning any time soon. The hospital is big and well known. I am sure the hospital dietitcian will tell me something positive about not needing to worry about eating there. . . I am wondering how any of you feel about eating...

Ok Ladies, I'm at 3 months and the nausia hit with a vengance. The Dr has offered Phenegrin - anti nausia. Does anyone know if this is gluten-free? Already tried the motion sickness wristbands and they are NOT helping. Also have a splitting headache that is about to make my forehead pop right off. Anything stronger than Tylenol acceptable? Thanks...

ARCHIVED Local Restarants In Clearwater/dunedin Florida
hapi2bgf replied to hapi2bgf's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Yes we post poned the trip due to the hurricane. But we will be heading back to Florida at least twice before 2005. We have family there and it is extremely hard to eat at the families house. I would be much safer eating out. Any thoughts? -
ARCHIVED How Sick Were You During Pregnancy?
hapi2bgf replied to kathyhay's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was not sick during the pregnancy, but I started dropping weight just before I got pregnant and lost muscle while pregnant. Within four months after the birth I was 20 lbs below my preprego weight. It look almost 3 1/2 yrs to get a diagnosis and stop the weight loss. -
ARCHIVED Children With Celiac
hapi2bgf replied to cdobbs's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter has the peanut allergy, right now at least she is not a celaic - I am. I work full-time and she goes to day care full-time. I make extra portions for dinner and pack lunches with the leftovers right after dinner. Most daycares are more than willing to help as long as you provide the info and the rules they need to work with. Just think of... -
ARCHIVED Help Please
hapi2bgf replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can try the baby BRAT diet. Eat only Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and dry toast (gluten-free Bread only). That should help stop the diahrrea. As for the burning in the throat, I have no idea. gluten-free wheat?? Never heard of that one. May want to do some more research before you eat that again. Good luck -
ARCHIVED Local Restarants In Clearwater/dunedin Florida
hapi2bgf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm heading to Cleawater and Dunedin this weekend and wondered if anyone knows of local restaurants that can make something gluten-free? Also must be a peanut free place. I will be traveling with my grill and food, but I need to eat a few meals out with family/friends. Sea Sea Riders? Casa Tia's? Shells? Frenchy's? etc. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Gf Tomato Soup
hapi2bgf replied to judy04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I believe Pacific is the brand I buy. It's the best Tomato soup I've had even before gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get These Symptoms
hapi2bgf replied to Almedingen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Prior to my official diagnosis, I was always overweight by a good 20 pounds, depression, and anemia. After getting very ill and fighting for years to get a real diagnosis of something, I found that I have Celiacs. At that point I had the "text book Celiac biopsy". Now I find that I stay much thinner than ever before even though I probably eat more candy than... -
Well I spoke to someone in corporate and it seems that they MAY have some items that are gluten free, but I'll need to stop into the local shop during off hours to read some labels. One note in their favor the meats are all fresh and marinated on premisis with marinades and rubs they make which sound safe. Clearly more research is needed, but it sounds...

I need to eat out today for lunch and the only place in the food court that looks remotely safe is Willy's Mexicana Grill. I have tried to call Corporate but have not heard back. The local shop manager was not too helpful or interested. Anyone know anything about this place? I used to eat there pre-Celiac but have not been back since. Thanks!

ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like A Gluten Reaction?
hapi2bgf replied to ryebaby0's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think everyone can have different types of reactions. Myself, I get so short tempered and it lasts for days. Irritable just does not come close to describing it. Everything bothers me touch, sight, sound, but the bowls are never that bad. Please be forwarned about the possible nut allergy. He could be allergic to Peanuts OR Tree nuts. And the allergy... -

FYI the Snapple Iced Teas are not all gluten-free. I loved those! But, my daughter loves the Snapple a Day drinks too! They are great! -
I can't use the Almond meal. Is it fine to just leave it out, or should I replace it with something? Any suggestions?

ARCHIVED Original Hormel Bacon Glutenfree?
hapi2bgf replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Another theory is that you cycle through allergies every 7 years or so. I have found this to be the case only in the milder allergies. I have ALWAYS been allergic to cats, but many of my other allergies have come and gone. When it comes to peanut allergies, the number of children with peanut allergies has doubled in the last five years. The researchers... -
ARCHIVED Any Gf Hair Dye ?
hapi2bgf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone been able to determine if Redkin, ArtTech, or Loreal hair dyes are considered gluten-free? I am getting my hair done at a salon and these are the dyes they use. I have too much grey to consider not dying it. I have called Redkin and they are mailing the ingredient lists, but cannot search on Gluten free or anything. I'm still trying to reach... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Not Super Careful About Cross Contamination
hapi2bgf replied to MichelleC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am very careful about my labels and products that I buy. However, I do not feel the need to take this to the extreme yet. To date, I have not seen the need to keep a strickly gluten-free house. I am the only celiac. All meals are made gluten-free except Pizza, pasta, and pancakes. They like theirs "normal" and I like mine gluten-free - of course. My... -
ARCHIVED Severe Abdominal Pain
hapi2bgf replied to Cstrong's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Looking back on it, I think my celiac symptoms started when I first got pregnant. I think pregnancy is one of the triggers for celiacs. But after the birth everything just hit the fan. I couldn't keep weight on and I was always sick, etc. I had all of the symptoms and no doctor who would help. I was labeled with IBS, told it was all in my head, etc. I... -
ARCHIVED 16 Month Old - Failure To Thrive
hapi2bgf replied to klang77's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It sounds like you need to find some new doctors. Your gut is telling you something is wrong, and it sounds like something is wrong, go try new doctors until someone works with you. It took me many years of fighting with different doctors to find one who would not label me as IBS, this guy did tons of tests to prove every theory he had about my health. He... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch
hapi2bgf replied to HeatherMelissa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As the Mom of another extremely picky child, I understand your frustration. I got lectures on how to feed a nutritionally balanced diet from our pediatrician everytime I asked for help making my daughter eat. We also tried begging, pleading, praising, punishment, you name it but nothing makes a toddler eat when they do not want to. My daughter would also... -
ARCHIVED Hungry
hapi2bgf replied to Patty's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been on the gluten-free diet for almost a year. Before diagnosis I lost about 45 lbs regardless of what I ate. I was eating 6-8 meals a day and was constatnly hungry and dropping pounds. After diagnosis, I too was STARVING all of the time and no matter what I ate. What helped me was eating SMALL protein packed meals (they seem to take longer to digest... -
ARCHIVED Newly Pregnant And Need Some Advise
hapi2bgf replied to hapi2bgf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks Vicki and Taniel, I'll keep looking for a better vitamin. I calle dthe Kroger dieticians line and they told me it was gluten-free, so far I have not had trouble with anything they have told me. Both of you are braver than me when it comes to the natural birth. I tend to pass out from extreme pain. The last birth was back labor all the way... -
ARCHIVED New Here - Hi All!
hapi2bgf replied to mackersandlackers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to the club. My parents and family are supportive in that they ask how I am doing and badger me about my weight loss or gain, but they do not cater anything to me or my diet. It's a fend for yourself diet. Luckily they live far away and don't visit that often. I love them to death and would love to have them around, but they don't make any effort... -
Hi, I am newly pregnant (7weeks) Yayayayayay! This is the first child after the Celiac diagnosis. Is there anything that I need to know about having a safe pregnancy and delivery? How do I bring this up to my OB and have a good reaction? Background: My OB sent me to the Gastro who eventually diagnoised me with Celiacs. The OB couldn't get a decent...

ARCHIVED Looking For List Of Gf Prescription Meds
hapi2bgf posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I'm looking for a list of gluten-free prescription medications. My pharmacist is having a heck of a time figuring out what I need. I'm sort of ok on the over the counter meds. I've seen that Clan Thompson produces a Prescription med list. Has anyone purchased this listing. Is it any good? Thanks!
