  1. Just wanted to add that Lame Advertisement has great products, and if there is not a rep in your area they have a web site. My daughter was 21 mo. when diagnosed and the biopsy was done first and was negative. Her blood work was positive and so was the genetic blood work. Her diarrhea was gone within 48 hrs on the diet, we are now seeing a cosiderable difference...
  2. I asked my doctor if I should start my daughter on enzymes, they were recommende to me and I was curious to see if that would help. Anyhow, he let me know that they would just make her body lazy. She is doing great and maybe if she was having problems I would consider them no matter what my doc had said. Just thought I'd put my two cents in!!
  3. My daughter got her Dx on May 1st of this year, so I am new to alot of this. I was wanting to know from you other moms if you take your celiac kids to places like Chuck E Cheese, or McDonalds play land? Are they safe? I have a son that is not celiac and I feel we don't got to alot of places we used to before his sisters Dx. I just feel that there has to be...
  4. What if an item states "natural and artificial flavor" is that anything to worry about?? I do see alot of things that contain caramel color.... like Dr. Pepper and syrup.
  5. I'm sure it has been mentioned, but I was wanting to know if anyone knows which baby wash is gluten-free. We have been using Huggies. I don't see anything, but I thought someone mentioned there was something in it that wasn't gluten-free. I just want something I can grab at Wal-mart. What about diapers and wipes, are their any problems with those? My daughter...
  6. Could it be that they contain carmel color? Is that off limits too?
  7. Can anyone tell me why bouillon cubes are a "no no"? I am knew to this and have recently realized that malt is also something I need to look for ( I have been feeding my daughter rice crispies). Can anyone else give me some common ingredients that are not wheat, oats or barley that I should not give her. If a food has not contained those things I have been...
  8. I know here in Indiana a child can be listed as OHI. Other Health Impared. I haven't gotten that far with my celiac daughter, but my son having autism and severe asthma they have listed him that way. He has been followed by our special ed. dept since he was three and he misses so much preschool due to his asthma. He is listed as OHI instead of autistic, because...
  9. Okay, I have heard that bouillon cubes are off limits, WHY?? I am knew to this. But I do not see any wheat listed?? I recently learned of malt being a hidden ingredient ( I was feeding my daughter rice crispies not knowing) Anything else hidden somewhere I should know about. I just thought I was okay by not feeding her anything containing wheat, oat or barley...
  10. See I live in "Nowheresville" and there are no Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or Natural Market, not even anything close. I went to one pathetic market (it took me an hour to get there) well, not may options. I realize the internet is more expensive, but I have no option...
  11. My daughter only got her Dx 2 weeks ago and I feel she is already getting tired of the snacks I have gotten for her. Our stores here have not much of a gluten-free variety. Could anyone give me some suggestions for websites to order from and maybe what snacks your kids like from those sites???
  12. So is anything with malt flavoring in it off limits too?? I wasn't aware of malt being a "no no" I'm still learning????????????
  13. Thanks so much!! I was in a panick there for a while. That really helps. She has been doing well with things that have no wheat in them so that is what I am sticking too!!!
  14. Okay, I am new to all of this too!! I am a little flipped out at this moment!! I thought all meats were gluten-free. If it doesn't say gluten free should I not buy it?? What if the product does not have wheat in it, but does not list the item as "gluten free" should I not be buying them? My daughter is the only one eating gluten-free in our house and if it...
  15. I just wanted to say that both of my kids had endoscopy done on 3-28-07. They are 20 months and 5. Both of my kids did not have to have an IV and were just given a mask of ansthesia in the operating room, that only took a few seconds for them to be out. You may want to ask if you have that option. I know most of us don't want to have our babies poked anymore...
  16. My daughter is only 21 months old and we were told we caught before the damage was in the intestine and I am not willing to wait for it. They wanted to repeat the biopsy and I said "NO" I have also heard that the blood test for children under 5 is very unreliable.
  17. j mommy, I noticed you have had positive blood work, and waiting for an upcoming biopsy, WHY??? If you have the positive blood work what is the reason for the biopsy?
  18. Our genetic testing for my daughter was paid for by our regular insurance. She was HLA-DQ8. Our ped GI told us that 40% of people with the gene never get celiac. My husband and I have not been tested but have no problems with gluten. Our son was given the antibody panel, it may be interesting to see if he has the gene too though. He had negative blood work...
  19. My daughter had negative biopsy and positive blood work. The ped GI did biopsy first and mistakingly forgot to do the blood work at the same time so a month later we had blood work and it was positive.
  20. She is only on a multi-vitamin. Should she be on anything else?
  21. I have noticed my daughter sleeping alot more too!! She has not even been on the diet for a week. She does take a vitamin though. Could it have to do something with carbs??
  22. I joined this message board on the 18th of April in dispair. My daugter, 21 mo, had an endoscopy on the 28th of March with a negative biopsy. She had the genetic make-up for celiac. The doctor pointed out that her B-12, folate and iron were low. She was lactose intolerant and her intestines were inflammed. She has also had diarrhea forever. Well, I got on...
  23. My daughter was a muffin addict before the diet. Does anyone have a good recipe or can recommend a muffin mix?
  24. Thanks!!!!
  25. I am just wandering if anyone has tried the Mi-Del arrow animal cookies? I went to the nearest natural food store (25 min) and they have near to nothing gluten-free. They do have these Mi-Del and want to know how they are before getting them.
