  1. hey everyone, my little sister has been experiencing celiac-like symptoms and my family and i were wondering about the testing. what are the blood tests available, and can her pediatrician set them up? (we don't know much about testing because i was diagnosed through endoscopy while checking out a different problem. but we don't want her to have to get...
  2. yeah, most soy sauce is full of wheat. however, there are some brands of gluten-free soy sauce available (all of the ones i have seen are organic) that taste exactly the same.
  3. yeah it sucks, and of course it's a big shock at first. the summer i was diagnosed, i gained over 9 pounds. my doctor attributed it to the fact that my intestines had actually started absorbing food, but i didn't tell him that i had found a recipe for gluten-free peanut butter cookies and i was sitting at home feeling sorry for myself and eating 10 cookies...

  7. i was diagnosed the summer after 9th grade. almost a year ago. how about you? french is an amazing language, it's so beautiful! and although i speak hindi, i'm no good at grammar or anything because i've never had formal instruction.
  8. Lacrosse? That's a scary sport. Very painful. I like to run. I'm on my school's track and cross country teams, and although i'm not amazing at it, i just have a great time. there's nothing like running to make you feel better (or to stop those gluten crazvings ) For fun I like to play soccer, and in the winter I go up north and snowboard with...
  9. Thanks so much for all of your advice. I'm trying to make my mom understand, and I'll certainly use some, if not all, of the suggestions here. I don't think my mom's in denial. At least I hope not. She just doesn't seem to think of the consequences or fully comprehend the extent of her actions. Sometimes all it takes is to remind her of the pain that...
  10. I was diagnosed a little under a year ago and my mom still doesn't understand what celiac disease entails. She's always trying to get me to eat foods with "just a little bit" of flour in them, but I know that I shouldn't. She gets angry and says that it's no big deal, because smalls amounts have minimal effects. Lately I've been eating food with a little...
