    ARCHIVED Dating?

I don't see how celiac has to be a huge hurdle to dating, or how it's something that should be difficult to talk about. I am not ashamed of my (as yet undiagnosed but fairly certain) disease. There is much more to dating (and life) than food. Perhaps ideally a fellow celiac is the best partner.
  2. Thanks Lise. Without sedation seemed to be the normal for my hospital. We certainly were not urged to opt for sedation and I went in thinking it would be so much easier than it was. It was seriously the single most physically traumatic experience of my life. I have been sedated before for other reasons and I think it would be fine that way, being barely...
  3. Does that mean that going gluten free didn't improve things for you?
  4. This is interesting. As a rather vain and self-conscious fella, the knowledge that my looks were being effected by something was the main driving force behind trying to get a diagnosis. I can deal with the bloating, the wind and all that, but if my looks are being degraded then that's serious. The above description sounds like me to a certain extent. I wouldn...
  5. OK. That's good. Tell you what, did any of you who have celiac and who had a positive biopsy result also have a positive result of the endoscope examination? You make it sound like that would actually be rare.
  6. Now I have had the endoscopy I shall try the diet. I certainly won't let the biopsy results determine whether I give the diet a chance.
  7. Can anyone tell me how much gluten you need in your diet before the endoscopy and how fast the intestine is likely to heal if your gluten intake is minimal? I was told before the test to make sure I eat gluten, and the recommended way was to eat a slice of bread per day. I don't eat bread very often and I just thought I'd carry on with my regular diet which...
  8. Oh, and I have a question which I hope can be answered. After the endoscopy I was told that everything looked normal, but obviously the biopsy results are the key. How often will the intestine look normal on the endoscope but show signs of celiac under the microscope? I'm not sure if I should take those results as an early sign of my not having celiac or...
  9. I had my endoscopy today, un-sedated. It wasn't very nice to say the least. I imagine it will be much easier under sedation because my problem is that I got panicky feeling the thing in my throat. I would never go through it again without sedation. No way.
