Actually I saw the Celiac specialist doctor at the Mayo Clinic and he said those with extreme celiac sensitivity such as those with the double gene are suseptible to even airborne gluten. I have the double gene unfortunately and get sick from even minute amounts of gluten that many others can tolerate. Just FYI.

just got my genetic test results back from the mayo clinic. double DQ8. the doc thinks that is causing me to be an extremely sensitive celiac, more than most. does anyone else have the double? does it really make a difference? i'm new to this genetic stuff and don't totally understand it. thanks.

I have eczema caused by apples and grapes. It's the malic acid in the apples and the tartaric acid in the grapes. These acids are also found in many sweetened candies and some jellies if you read the ingredients list. I've had this since I was very young. The allergist explained that I'm missing an enzyme to digest these two acids so it comes out my skin...

I would not touch the Hormel Natural Choice again. I am one of the most sensitive celiacs and get DH when exposed to gluten, so my body knows there is gluten in something even when my stomach feels okay. Every time I eat Hormel Natural Choice I get DH. So I have sworn off it. I was eating their bacon which said gluten free and also their lunch meat... -

was anyone else told by their gastro doctor that their intestine was "scalloped" when they saw it with the camera during the endoscopy procedure? does that mean you have a worse case of celiac than most or does that happen with everyone who has celiac? what exactly does scalloped mean when referring to your intestine? thanks!

thanks so much for the replies. i was thinking mine was more like april's where it seems to show up within 48 hours (i get it on my elbows too), but that is very interesting about the months later thing and how unpredictable DH is. i know i got glutened at the dentist about 3-4 weeks ago too. yeesh - this is tough figuring it out! thanks again! -

can anyone tell me how long it takes between accidentally eating gluten and the DH rash showing up? i am trying to trace back my foods and figure out what is glutening me. i saw a dermotologist and she said it could be 2 weeks or more between eating the food and the DH rash. however, it seems sooner than that for me. i'm really not sure. is it different... -
Yes, I have been allergic to both Malic Acid and Tartaric Acid my whole life. It was diagnosed by my allergist when I was in elementary school. I was just diagnosed with Celiac this past April. There must be a connection with all these allergies

thanks so much for the replies. question - do any of you react to something even like a sweet potato w/ no additives? i was told to stay off sugar, but that things like potatoes are supposed to balance your sugars and be okay. however, i even have hypoglycemia type reactions to potatoes.

fyi - The Buffalo Guys beef jerkey is gluten free. it says Gluten Free right on the label. you can buy it from the gluten free mall website, or else go to www.thebuffaloguys.com and order direct from them. it arrives very fast in the mail. i would recommend the "mild" over the "old style." -
Anyone know if the WorldWide Pure Protein Shakes are Gluten free? They come in a 12 oz. can -- various flavors. They are on the Trader Joe's list of Gluten Free products, but I've heard you cannot always trust the Trader Joe's lists. Thanks.

yeah, i have the same problem with trying to work after eating lunch and feeling so lousy and dizzy. i did talk to another woman who had something very similar and she got better after one year. she ate pretty much meat and veggies for a year and then it finally turned around. she thought it was due to something related to the liver. a year sure seems... -

this exact same thing has been happening to me! it is so frustrating. my doctor told me it was possibly reactive hypoglycemia, but she wasn't sure. my glucose tests are always very normal. the only way i have found to get rid of it is if i cut out all carbs and starches. i eat meat and veggies, that's about it. i am down to 105 lbs. though which sucks... -
