  1. Big thanks to all of you... your ideas were refreshing and has really helped me get out of my whoa-is-me funk. I love the idea of starting to think of cooking as a once-a-week social activity - drink some wine, crank the tunes, invite a friend... and COOK - cook for the week. As much as I thought I hate cooking, if I motivate myself by popping the cork...
  2. In May I found out I had this crazy Celiacs-thing. The diagnosis was a long time coming with a multitude of symptoms, so it came to me as complete relief. I had high hopes thinking I could deal with the diet despite my crazy life. I travel once a week somewhere (not always a big town, sometimes internationally, and often a small town without franchise restaurants...
  3. I am a puker. In fact, it was because I had the D and I was always throwing up that my Doctor suspected celiacs. He said it was unusual other diseases would cause one to do both. Interestingly, when I first started having problems (many moons ago) I went to a Doctor who insisted my problem was that I was a bulimic in denial. I dropped her like a hot potato...
  4. I checked out the Chili's menu on-line and saw where the menu listed Chili's corn tortilla's (did not say chips) heated in the microwave only and their Pico De Gallo sauce as both being gluten-free, but it did not list the tortilla chips or salsa (unless that is what they mean by Pico De Gallo) on their gluten-free menu. Does anyone know if the chips and...
  5. Today - I had my one month after diagnosis with Doctor's appointment. He asked the same question you are asking - How's it going? I told him FANTASTIC. I discovered in this last month how many things have gluten but how I do not miss any of it - simply because it makes me feel like crap! I must say when I see my friends eating pizza or sharing a desert I...
  6. Two weeks before being diagnosed with Celiacs, I was diagnosed as borderline Type 2 diabetes. I shoot myself twice a day with Byetta. Being both diabetic and Celiacs does complicate my life quite a bit. My job requires a lot of traveling and a lot of odd hours and events that host rubber chicken dinners. Being on insulin requires that I schedule my eating...
  7. Boy did I have (and to some extent still do) have neurological misfunctions. Before being diagnosed with Celiacs, what drove me to go to the doctor were the wierd neurological things vs the stomach problems. For example, some days my eyes would get so blurry I could not see yet I have 20/20 vision, other days I felt like I accidently poured hot coffee on...
  8. Wow.. Good luck on the book. In reading the replys from all these wonderful folk it is so interesting how similar we all are. I was just diagnosed 10 days ago. I had major mixed emotions - relieved I finally knew what the &)^#$ was going on but in shock because it was my second shocking diagnosis of the week that I thought was going to change my life...
  9. Hi everyone - this is my very first post after being diagnosed with celiac last week. The diagnosis was a long time coming given the fact that my doctors and I knew something was wrong but had been unable to put our fingers on it. Although I have lots and lots of questions this website is helping to answer many of them as I try to transition into my new life...
