    ARCHIVED Flu

It certainly is a horrible one and Vegas, where I live, is over run with it!!! Did you do anything in particular to control your stomach issues?

    ARCHIVED Flu

Need some advice or at least Sympathy! Got the flu the 5th of January....after several days it hit my stomach....after eighteen months of being Gluten Free it seems as if I'm back to square one! Very discouraging......has this happened to any of you?
  3. Joanne.... You are sooo welcome for my little contribution to this thread! Happy, Healthy, Blessed New Year to you and yours!! Del
  4. I know exactly what you mean about taking one step forward and five steps back!!! What a rollercoaster ride this disease is!!!! After eighteen months there are times when I'm ready to scream but then I do realize how very much I have improved in those eighteen months!!!
  5. I have been gluten-free for eighteen months....I didn't expect my Fibro to improve but it did Dramatically! I'd say it was 85% improved for nine months or so.....in fact the only time I knew I had it was when there was a storm in the area. Even then it was not as bad as before! Also I'd start into a flare....we all know how that feels...and the next day...
  6. Congratulations!!!! I've been gluten free for fifteen months....sometimes I feel "Hey, this is working!" other times I wonder "if this is EVER going to work!" I know it took many years to get to this much damage so it's going to take awhile to heal but sometimes, like now, I get so discouraged! I do thank you for posting this. By the way I've tried...
  7. Congratulations....you've done a wonderful thing for your friend! Del
  8. Hi Bea.... I can easily imagine your sister using power tools now when before she couldn't even lift her babies, let alone a power tool!! I'm constantly amazing my husband but what I can easily do.....he was used to having to do a lot of things for me....now he watches me do those very same things! Now basically the only time I know Fibro is still lurking...
  9. Morning Bea.... I agree with you....maybe you should develope the story of your mother!!! Not only is it inspiring, it might get others to avoid gluten....which I think would be beneficial to many!!!! I'm the prayer chain manager/chaplin on a Fibromyalgia board and I've really be letting them know how much better, at least 85% better, my Fibro is since...
  10. Hi Bea..... Loved hearing about your Mother!!!! Sounds like, with lots of prodding from you, she's having a wonderful life! Thanks for telling us about her. I hadn't heard that people with Celiac are prone to long lives....for several different reasons I've often wondered if my great grandmother had Celiac....she lived to be 104 and from all I've heard...
  11. Thank you, Welda!!! It's people like you that help us all know there are better days ahead!!!
  12. Hi Welda..... You post was just what I needed!! Thanks! I was gluten-free eleven months ago yesterday....and I'm feeling good!!! Del
  13. ] Betty.... I couldn't agree with you more!!! This site has been a lifesaver for me!!! Take care! Del
  14. Hi Betty.... We do need each other....really helps to know what others our age are going thru.....and that they have finally seen the light at the end of this tunnel we're all in!!! Have you tried giving up others foods, such as, milk, soy, etc. That might be causing your bloating problems. Seems when we get the gluten out of our systems something else...
  15. Hi Bea.... I don't think you were posting to me but I still think you're physic....I was just getting ready to post to you when I got a message that you'd posted in this thread. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions....I just bought Milk Thistle and Slippery Elm today....what dosage do you take of them? Del
  16. That's interesting!!!! Remember any of them that we can use? Eleven months gluten-free today....and it's been a good day!!
  17. Hi Ken..... Thank heaven Margy doesn't teach middle school....that's a mine field here!!!! As for driving cab....at least you spoke English!!!! Gotta run....take care. Del
  18. It sure seems like you're familiar with Vegas' crazy weather extremes!! I absolutely hate the summers here....and they last forever!!!! Last Monday or Tuesday it was 114 here at our house...Thursday is barely made it out of the fifties!!!! Now it's inching it's way back to the hundreds!!!! Yuck!!!! God Bless Margy!!! What grade does she teach? My husband...
  19. Hi..... I can imagine you wanting to just "stay glued to the lazyboy" after your hard trips...you poor thing!!! What exactly do you do? Hope you enjoy Venice....will you be there the whole six weeks? Bet Margy is looking forward to it!!! And here I sit in the middle of the desert!!!! Let's see in July, while you're slaving away in Italy, I'll be sitting...
  20. Don't despair too much.....I know that's easier said than done! Been there too many times myself! I've said many times healing from this disease is a roll-coaster ride!!! The more damage that's been done the longer it seems to heal! I started a thread on here asking for those near 60 to let me know how they are doing....I know you're no where near sixty...
  21. You are in for a shock!! You won't believe how Vegas has changed!! Along with all the new hotels since you've been here....there's sky-scraper condos everywhere!!! My cousin and her husband stayed at the Venetian and really liked it....but the last time they were here they stayed at the Wynn, basically because it was the newest...they liked it but were...
  22. Hi there!! Naw you're not THE granny around here....I've read posts from a lady in her seventies! But let's face it, we're getting there!! LOL This is a wonderful site....glad you found it.....and so glad I found it!! You can really learn a lot on here. Sure hope your arthritis get on a "livable" level soon!!! Thanks for the post. Del
  23. Hi.... I'm with you.....I absolutely love salads but MOST of the time I just can't eat them now!!! Normally the only time I try to eat one now is when I just can't stand not having one .....sometimes I don't pay for it...but normally I do!!!! So don't even try most of the time! How long has it been since you've been to Vegas? If it's been a few years...
  24. Morning, Susan..... Your post gave me hope....I will be gluten-free 11 months tomorrow and somedays are good but other days are pretty terrible!!!! Good luck dealing with the osteoprosis! Del
  25. Hi... Thanks for the reply!! Have to agree with you....it does seem to take us long term gluten eaters a long time to heal!!! We have so many years of damage done. I'm like you, I wish doctors would take time to listen to their patients....and then knew what to test for!! We can only hope and pray that someday they do!!! Thanks for the congrats but...
