  1. I think I've asked this before. Sorry, if I have. Long story short, about 3 years ago I started suspecting my oldest child had a problem with gluten. Since then, we've done several gluten free trials with results varying from ho-hum to a pretty big difference. My doctor said it was unlikely a problem with her. I let it rest. Last year, my now 5 year...
  2. My 4 year old has a joint in her toe that's swollen and red. It doesn't have a splinter and it's not anywhere that her shoe could really be rubbing up against. She says it doesn't hurt but she tells me not to squeeze it... I had her checked maybe 3 months ago for celiac disease and it came back a weak and unreliable positive. He ran 4 different tests and...
  3. I'll take a look, thanks!
  4. Thanks! I'll have to find an Asian market around here.
  5. Is anyone from this area? Are there any stores in the area that have a good selection of gluten free products? Thanks !
  6. There probably has been a topic on this already so feel free to point me in the right direction... We're a family of 5 and I'm trying to keep my grocery budget reasonable, but going gluten-free has been really expensive. Does anyone have any tips or recipes to help out? Thanks you!
  7. Thanks all. Off to Google I go.
  8. I just popped positive! I'm very early, 4 weeks along today, and I haven't gone to the dr yet. Even when I do, I don't think I'm going to use the prenatals they hand out at the mtf clinic I go to. I need a high quality, gluten free multi with no artificial sweeteners or other junk. Any recommendations?
  9. I don't know about Summerville, but I'm here in Goose creek. I get my gluten-free bread at Health Nuts on Rivers Ave, North Charleston. It's a teeny tiny store and it reeks of hippy, but their gluten-free selection is satisfactory. It's not very far away from Summerville.
  10. This is what my kid seems to be doing lately. What causes this?
  11. Ah man, I may have to buy some of those crackers just to try them out.

    ARCHIVED Left Side Pain

Yes Del, that makes sense. Lactose is one of the two main culprits in milk, and cheese tends not to have it. Beneficial bacteria are used to produce both cheese and yogurt, and in the process the bacteria consume the lactose. Someone here posted a chart with a ranking of the lactose content of certain dairy items, maybe they will repost it for you. I...
  13. Ah, thanks for the tip. I'll have to look into this Kinikin stuff. Perhaps I can make this into some french toast?
  14. Wow, this stuff if FOUL. Why didn't you guys warn me before I went out and bought this stuff?! YUCK!
  15. Thank you hathor, I'll definitely be looking over this guy's blog. I alternate between feeling like an idiot for thinking I know better than a guy with a medical degree and then feeling like an idiot for not trusting (what I think) is some pretty clear evidence. What really struck me in one of this Dr's posts is that the shaky nervousness described in withdrawals...
  16. Yeah, I just called yesterday after you suggested lyme and asked to see the doctor about it so I'm pretty happy that I got in in less than 24 hours. It's a military treatment facility so I'm sure that it's a cheapo test and they don't have the flexibility of a civilian doctor's office would. They said they send them off to San Antonio. I'm feeling really...
  17. I didn't know that chocolate chips had soy in them. My friend just found out that she can't have soy, corn or wheat, so she's having trouble adjusting to the new diet just because she's been eating things that she never would have thought might have allergens in them. (For example, there's corn syrup in her half and half.) I'll have to let her know about...
  18. Okay, I got tested and the results should be back by mid-next week. Eh.
  19. I got mine at an asian import grocery store.
  20. I'm moving to Seattle in Feb. I can't way to try these places out!
  21. Thanks for all the help, Carla. How do you feel now? Can you expect a complete recovery after treatment?
  22. I've had like a hundred of them lol When we were kids we'd get them all the time and just pull them right out. I've got an appointment for tomorrow 8am and I'm going to ask about getting tested. How long will it take to get the results back? In the event that I turn up positive, should my two children be tested as well?
  23. Doesn't lyme disease require a tick bite? I haven't been bit since my childhood.
  24. Thank you, hafadai. I hope you get the answer you're looking for soon.
  25. Whew. Then I'm not crazy? I'm not really worried about an official diagnosis. I just want to feel better! I'm going to be moving in less than two weeks and I'm now facing the possibility of not being able to fit in my CAT scan before my neuro appointment. Really it just seems like these guys are taking a couple wild stabs in the dark when it comes...
