  1. Authentic Foods makes a pretty good vanilla cake mix. And you can buy gluten-free frosting or make your own. I know it isn't as easy as buying one, but I am sure she will love the effort you put into it. You can also find come recipes on in the forum for pizze crust, then you can make your own pizza.
  2. You sound a lot like myself. My IgG came back high (34) but I do not have any symptoms typical of Gluten Intolerance. I had hypothyroid symptoms. And did test positive for Hashimoto's Hypothyroiditis. My conclusion after researching it, is that my hypothyroidism was being triggered by gluten. So I ordered the test through enterolabs which is where you send...
  3. When getting a probiotic, ask for one that is specific for babies. Because there is a special bacteria that babies have and need that adults don't have. Also, I have done a little research and found that Autoimmune disease such as Celiac can be triggered by vaccines. You said she started getting fussy at two months, did this coincide with any vaccines...
  4. SteveW, I am sorry if I sounded defensive about Primal Defense. My husband tells me that I state things that I have an opinion about in defensive ways, even though I don't mean to. I guess I do the same in writing. Sorry about that. I also have to confess that I do not take Primal Defense and never have. I am nursing my baby still and am not sure if...
  5. Primal Defense does not contain gluten. It says it plainly on the bottle and I trust this company. IF you notice the list, it says (spirulina, chlorella, dunaliella, kamut grass, barley grass, oat grass, alfalfa grass). When these cereal grasses are sprouted, the gluten is used up and so they do not contain gluten. I believe most, if not all, of the Garden...
  6. I just finished reading "The Metobolic Typing Diet" by Wolcott. It talks about things like fatigue after eating. I don't feel fatigued after eating a high protein, high fat meal, but do feel fatigued if I don't eat enough protien in relation to carb's (good carbs like vegetables.) I recommend the book highly. It may be that you need more carbs. The book helps...
  7. I have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, it is an autoimmune thyroid problem, I believe that Gluten Intolerance trigger the Hashimoto's. I have actually read some information about how going gluten-free may allow the thyroid to re-regulate itself. This is what I am praying. I have been gluten-free for 1 month and am going to get some more blood work done to check...
  8. I read a study that said that a baby that is breastfeed for more than 2 months has 2/3 less chance of developing Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance. I would like to find out what everyone's experience on this is.
  9. Chantalle, I recommend you get tested through enterolab. Out of the three blood tests only one of mine came back positive and it wasn't the main celiac disease test. However through enterolab all came back positive including Milk sensitivity. Plus I have two genes that predispose me two gluten intolerance. And I didn't even have very many symptoms like you...
  10. When I had the enterolab test done, I was told that since I have both genes I am more predisposed to not only celiac disease but also microscopic colitis and other autoimmune syndromes. So, yes you could have something more than Gluten Intolerance... Have you cut out dairy and eggs? You might try that if you are eating them and see what happens.
  11. About cornflake girl's question...I don't know and wouldn't doubt that Shirley is correct, but what about this ? I know from reading a book on Autism that gluten-free/CF diets greatly improve autistic childrens symptoms. But I also know from reading the book that it talks about how gluten and casein protiens are very similar to each other thus gluten-free...
  12. Thank you Lisa. Yes I know that most Celiacs have problems with milk until the instines heal. I just wasn't sure how long I need to wait before trying Cow's Milk again, so thought I might do goat products until then. I think I will wait on both for a while, though I didn't seem to do bad with the goat cheese. Thank you for your response.
  13. Enterolab says I am sensitive to Cow's milk protein (Caesin). I don't think it necessarily means genetically.

    ARCHIVED Genetics

Well I have Gluten Intolerance and both genes. So both of my children have at least one gene. My younger sister (18) is showing signs of celiac disease and just got tested, but has not received the test results yet. She has a twin who may have problems also but not yet...my older sister has Hashimoto's Hypothryroidism which I know can be related to celiac...
  15. cornflake girl, The gene test is and isn't important. Your children have a 50/50 chance of having the gene because you have one of them. Thus each of your eggs have half of your DNA. So half of your eggs have the gene and the other half do not. So depending on which eggs where fertilized determines if your children have the gene. (That is unless you husband...
  16. I was tested through enterolabs and was found to be sensitive to cow's milk as well as gluten (surprise, surprise ). Does anyone know if goat's milk has the same reaction? Well I ate chicken stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese for dinner... it was yummy. But wasn't sure if I should stay away from goat products also. I eat Kefir made from Raw...
  17. I was just tested by Enterolab. I received my results in about four weeks. For $99 you can have the Gluten Sensitivity Stool test and this will tell you if you are senstive to gluten and thus need to go gluten-free. IF you can spend $169 then you can get the Gluten Sensitivity Stool Panel which will also tell you if you have malabsorption problems, meaning...
  18. In reference to the gluten-free Mac & Cheese, I believe you can get a tax deduction for the difference in price between the normal brand and the gluten-free brand. I don't know how it all works, but it sure would add up over a year.
  19. I have both of the genes so all my children will have atleast one of them...Bummer
  20. Dr. Mercola has had success with RA when people have gone on the diet he recommends. You can get to his free newsletter that talks about it at www.mercola.com In the search box typr in Rheumatoid arthritis and you will get a lot of links to articles about it. It can for sure be helped by diet. Hope this helps,
  21. I should have read your link first which says: "Gluten is a mixture of proteins found in some cereals, particularly wheat. It is the gliadin component of gluten which is responsible for coeliac disease. A gluten-free diet is not the same as a wheat-free diet, and some gluten-free foods are not wheat free. Despite a good deal of research, it is unknown...
  22. ConcernedMom yes you are correct that Wheat-Free and Gluten-Free are to different issues. If you are only Wheat-Free you only have to eliminate wheat. However if you are Gluten-Free you have to eliminate wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats. Thus when you say Gluten-Free, that term already includes the elimination of wheat. So if you say "I am on a wheat...
  23. Did you try there website...it doesn't have info on gluten-free stuff but if you call them I bet you can talk to someone who can help. Here is there contact page on their website. Open Original Shared Link
  24. No one every said that you need a doctor to tell you that you should avoid something. If you have a diet that is working for you and you are feeling good on it than just go with it and don't worry about a dx unless you need one for another reason. If you want a dx, (I don't blame you if you do) You could do the enterolab stool test which says it is...
  25. I guess I forgot to answer your question specifically... Blood tests can't always confirm gluten senstivity or celiac disease which is what Dr. Fine explains in the essay, that is why he recommends the stool test. But in my case the main blood test for celiac disease which is tTg was negative but one of the Antigliadin antibodies was positive. Thus not...
