  1. Yes, I use the orange and the lemonade Accelerade powdered products. They have not been a problem. I'm not a real sensitive celiac, I think, however. The protein in this sports drink seems to speed recovery, or at least, I think it does. I do seem to recover a little faster after my long runs. Sorry about your reaction to this product...
  2. I use the 100% Whey Protein from GNC with apple juice, pomegranate juice, and coconut milk. It works for me... William in AZ
  3. I would try and resolve the stomach issues first. Are you having trouble with milk maybe, as well as gluten? Some people who go gluten-free are sensitive to milk products for a while, until they heal somewhat. Are you sure all gluten is out of your life? Maybe in some skin products, or soap? As far as getting back into shape, maybe trying...
  4. Hi! A middle school teacher, a runner who stopped training, and a newbie Celiac. And you're doing a 1/2 marathon? Do U.S. Marines run in your family? I wouldn't do a 1/2 marathon without lots of long weekend runs and consistent weekly runs of intervals, pace training, etc. over the months before. Not if I want to finish without difficulty. ...
  5. You could always do meat and salad for protein and vitamins. Perhaps do sports drinks for energy? Dried and fresh fruit also might be an option. Good luck! There always seem to be substitutes if you search hard enough... billcorno arizona
  6. Well, I've been eating honey for lots of years. I only gave up eating it "straight" 'cuz it was ruining my teeth! It's a great energy boost and is, for me, soothing to the stomach. It hasn't done me any harm, as far as I can tell! billcorno Glendale, AZ
  7. I do Gui gels and got into Accelerade for my last two marathons. I find a sports drink is really important for long runs. Gatorade half-strength has worked, but Accelerade has more staying-power, at least for me. I'm a runner though, so take it for what it's worth. I find that lots of carbs before a race do help. Rice pasta, gluten-free pancakes...
  8. One of the reasons I got into running was because it shook up my system and I seemed to function better. "Gut geshuttelt" as the Germans say. I had a problem with the Big C, things would just get stuck in there. If I ran, it came out sooner than later. When I went gluten-free, it was better, but I still had runners' runs, to a degree. ...
  9. Hi. I guess I would take it easy for a while. I had run for a few years before celiac came along for me. My overall health improved when I stopped the gluten. I still was injured off and on, but mostly from odd things happening, not celiac-related. I would check it out with a doctor, sports medicine person, or a physical therapist. Life...
  10. I guess this could be true. I have never had a problem with bee pollen, and if I get glutened I catch a rash and have the big D pretty bad (as well as other symptoms.) I do try and get the highest quality and freshest bee pollen I can. C.C. Pollen company is the main company I go to (no financial interest.) It works for me and YMMV. ...
  11. Hi! I ran with a marathon-training group in Germany, and they had this certain routine for training. We did a couple long runs, one interval session, and some track work per week. This started about three months out from the marathon. Then, one month out, we ran for three hours. Next, two weeks out, we ran for three hours. Then on race day, we...
  12. "Bee pollen has everything necessary to sustain life except fiber." I read that somewhere. Lasse Viren, the scandinavian runner, used to do bee pollen. I think it's a great natural multi-vitamin. Some people are allergic to it, so one should start out doing just a few granules and work up. It's great to find out what the problem was (wheat/gluten...
  13. I'm training for my ninth marathon (I run one a year - it takes me that long to forget how bad the last one was ) Going gluten-free was really good for my training. I still did oats for years after that, and I had the big D often on account (I think.) I ran shorter distances for thirteen years before I started running marathons. A lot...
  14. Could it be stress? Or a new surroundings? I guess the only solution would be time and to relax a bit. I wish I had something better to say. Good luck. BillCorno Hello everyone-- I just finished my first week in Bikram yoga teacher training, and I have been experiencing a lot of nausea + d. Does anyone out there have any experience...
  15. Hi. I started using Accelerade when it was the sponsoring drink for a marathon I ran. It is a good recovery sports drink, with vit C. and E and some magnesium. And of course, there's always Gatorade, which is also gluten-free. Just some suggestions... BillCorno <<Can anyone recommend some ideas about recovery foods or carb...
