  1. Well, as i Said, I was a beer drinker, and before that I was a Whiskey drinker. But I find that I love Rum now! And I have tried it all. From $50 a bottle to the cheapest. And you know what? Heaven Hill is the Best of ALL of them!!! I never would have believed that because their Whiskey is trash!!!!! Rum is made from pure Cane sugar. Rotten sugar...
  2. I had one skillet I was attached to. It is over 100 years old. I quit using it, as I read here that you cant burn off gluten. I read so much here Im scared of everything. To get the seasoning off a iron skillet just throw it in the campfire the next time you go camping. It's been done that way forever. So, do you guys think I can burn off my...
  3. Im Irish and a heavy drinker. I was beer drinker before going gluten-free. Now I drink Rum and Hawaiian Punch. Rum and Diet Coke when Im somewhere that doesnt have punch. I dont really miss the beer, as I always drank for effect anyway and find that Rum Punch gives more "bang for the Buck" and taste good too! Taste a lot better than beer. The Mango...
  4. It gets easier. Im 4 months into it, and am a lot better cook than I used to be! I make my own Spaggetti sauce, taco seasonings, salad dressing and stuff like that from scratch. It really taste better and has no preservatives or unwanted ingredients. As for booze. I drink Rum, and mix it with punch. I was a beer drinker before, but now Im a rum punch...
  5. I am Scotch/Irish
  6. I am 42 and have had bowel problems all my life. At least since I was 12. Thats as far back as I can remember. I was missdiagnosed all along. I actually asked my doc to do the Celiac test. So I would say I have had full blown celiac for at least 30 years. Thats a lot of damage Im sure. I have to say, I am finding the gluten free diet easier and easier...
  7. I have been gluten free since mid October. I also had the enterolab and was found to be Soy, and Egg Intolerant. I have cut out the soy and eggs. But I still have horrible (Big D) about once a week for a few days, and never a normal stool. I have had the big D all my life. How long before I get relief? Will I ever get back to normal as far as my bowel...
  8. Thanks for the suggestions. I ordered the Enterolab test today. I am getting tested for soy, yeast, eggs, and milk. At least that way I will know for sure about those 4 things. I think it will be worth the $300. My insurance wont pay for it, but I need to know for sure. Letting go of $300 seems eaiser than doing all kinds of elimanation diets...
  9. Hi, I have recieved a lot of help from this board and after two months have the Gluten free thing down pretty good. I feel better mentally. But! I had a big bowl of ice cream a few weeks ago and got horrible IBS (Big D) and bloating - gas. I went lactose free and felt much better. Then 3 days ago I fixed a huge pot of hamburger soup. I used...
  10. Thanks for all the replies. I feel better today. There is just so much to learn. One day at a time I suppose. Thanks again.
  11. Granted I have had gut problems all my life (Im 42) I have had cronic runny stool, anxiety, depression, all the symptoms. I found out 2 months ago I had Celiac. I am a widowed male with a daughter who doesnt have this problem. Nor does anyone I know. I cant eat with anyone anymore. I get so confused about what I can eat and what I cant. Pots, pans...
  12. So what kind of cornmeal do you guys use? Bump
  13. Hi folks, If I buy enriched Cornmeal (I have Great Value brand), is it all safe? Like would Aunt Jemima cornmeal be safe? It says it is processed in a facility that processes wheat , eggs, ect. But it should be OK right? I can get Arrowhead Mills cornmeal at the health food store here, but its $3.00. Where Aunt Jemimna is only a $1.00 for the...
  14. Great, I will go with the Bob's. It is about the only thing that is "easy" for me to find, unless I go the health food store, and thier prices are crazy! Thanks again. Mmmm, I can taste it already!
  15. Can anyone tell me what would be best to use to fry chicken and deer steak? I always used plain white flour in the past. Is Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Flour good for battering, flouring and frying, or should I use something else, like white rice flour? My local grocery carries the Bob's Red Mill AP, gluten-free baking flour. What...
  16. I have been on this new found gluten-free diet for 5 weeks now. Guess what? Every time I consume Dairy I get that bloated, rumbly in the tumbly, Big D, awful feeling. So, I am quite sure that my Celiac, which I am sure I have had since I was about 7 years old, GAVE me a Lactose intolerance. Will it get better? From what Ive been told here...
  17. Hi, I am so glad to have found this board. I was diagnosed a month or so ago and came here for advise. I got the best advise and am very grateful. One of the tidbits I got was to avoid dairy for 2 months. Well, I must say that it took a good 3 weeks of OCD type persistence to "get" the gluten free thing, so I just started the dairy free thing...
  18. Honey, let me tell you something. This Celiac stuff is killing me. Im a 42 year old, widowed, single father of an 11 year old girl. I work shift work (12 hour shifts, alternating between nights and days.) But here's the deal. I was married to my true soulmate for 10 years. We were inseparable. She wanted a child, we had one, she died, my heart was...
  19. My IBS (Big D), was the reason for my getting tested. I had it all my life, but it was getting worse the older I got, Im 42. I have been 100% Gluten free since Oct. 28. I am positive I have not been CC'd or slips. I have been fanatically careful. My question? When should expect to have a normal Bowel Movement again? Any ideas?
  20. All Petit Jean Meat products are Gluten free. This is what I was told on the phone this am. The lady I spoke with said she gets lots of calls about Gluten. I told her they should put Gluten Free on the label! She said, "now there's an idea!"
  21. Hi, Im the 1965kid, AKA 42 year old redneck, turned Gluten free guy a few weeks ago. This sure is a great site with scads of helpful and knowledgeable folks. Anybody from Arkansas? I would like to meet like minded folks from my area. It would be nice to be able to chat FTF about this Gluten free stuff. I live 20 minutes North of the Rock.
  22. Maybe Im just in denial. I know that doing this all alone is not fun. Everyone thinks Im "making too much out of this". My Doctor is no help. I think I know more about Celiac than he does. What worries me the most, Is everything! No really, I am feeling scared to ever go on Vacation again. How will I eat? Should I just "do my best" when I...
  23. It sure sounds like it had to be the Lay's chips. I wonder if some people are more sensitive to CC than others? I also wonder how I will know if I get glutened, besides for my IBS coming back, which hasnt left me yet. I hope it goes away soon. I never really got bad sick from Gluten. I just had severe IBS, irritability, bloating, Anxiety, depression...
  24. Im about two weeks into this diet after being diagnosed with Celiac. Im doing pretty good. Feeling better mentally. My IBS is still quite bad, or not any better I should say. I am wondering how much I should worry about CC. I stopped and bought some Pistachios on the way to work this morning. The ingredients are: Pistachios, salt. But it says...
  25. Dang-it! This is really hard.
